Archived How much of your perspective changed when you got promoted?

I understood long long ago as a TM that the BS started at the top. The main thing was when my TL straight up tells me during the review, "hey I originally gave you this score and when I turned it in the ETL said to rewrite it with a lower grade." From that point on I knew how little control...

Archived the silliest interview/new tm questions you ever heard

Q:....used your attitude to turn a situation around Answer I got to this question a while back: "I came to work really pissed off, and other people noticed how pissed I was. After that someone talked to me and I wasn't as pissed afterwards" Why thank you very much for that information, so...

Archived So how does your store schedule team leads?

I can't count the number of times a year I take extra days off so my team can get more hours to try and pay their bills. At least 100+ vacation hours used a year with only taking time off "vacation" during payroll lulls. I've seen many a senior TL at my stores doing POG TM shifts due to no...

    Archived Locked Out

at 5 minutes you are considered "late" In all of the stores I have worked in over the last decade plus, the policy has been 5 minutes before until 5 minutes after the hour / half hour (5:55-6:05 for someone to be at door), anything beyond that they are not *required* to let you in and it's YMMV...

Archived Team Lead Pay Grade Question

Up until a couple of years ago all TL started at PG13, during AE12 they changed it so that new TLs would mostly start at PG11, but would have the opportunity to go to PG13.

Speaking of empty pegs in Toys... why the hell would corporate decide to make the 3 new Action Figure aisles and Nerf set MPG. One of the aisles I set today had over 30 pegged clearance items left on the new pog, so of course that means empty pegs that now need to be flexed. One of the other...

The big hints I can think of that I've given to all of my team: Standard gondolas: When setting peg hooks the top row of holes in the backer paper is at 76", the last row of holes on the top sheet is at 36". There is a horizontal mark every 5" on the upright standards that the shelves fit in...

See at my store it's the complete opposite. This is what I normally hear from all the ETLs, keep in mind my departments payroll has already been cut 50-100 hours to give more to salesfloor so my team gets to start out behind every week. Hl just fake tied there SPL today supposedly they are...

This had me actually laughing out loud. I wish I could find a way to not interact with people/guests and be sociable, how exactly is that suppose to work at stores when you are setting / filling POGs until 3pm?

I do so love stapling a 2 foot stack of POGs and SPLs, thank god for electric staplers ($10 on TIPP, buy a few if you don't have them).

There is one TM at my store that I wish I could get on POG team. The ETLs don't like how the TM handles guest service and would like to get rid of them, but the TM is better / faster than half my POG team. Sadly since there are no positions open I just keep stealing them during large set weeks...

    Archived demotion question

The store I currently work in has 3-4 TM that used to be TL at the same store, so it's definitely allowed here.

Archived How do you lead your Ad Set team?

As HLM said about price cuts that's the easiest / bet way, best practice is to actually remove the yellow flag insert from them and then the ad takedown team is supposed to re-attach the flags. I don't think I've ever seen a single store do this though.

Archived Presentation Team Leader Core Roles

In a perfect world you can go by your adjacency and set each endcap where it is assigned. The adjacency will show each endcap to be something like "D115 08, D115 10, D115 07" then all of the salesplanners will be named "08F random SPL" "10B random SPL" with the B and F indicating backs and...

    Archived calling all GSTL's/GSA's/TL's

Not going to get into who's right or wrong but.... Target is VERY bad about communicating when someone has not gotten a position. I wouldn't have been a bit surprised if a person interviewed for GSTL and didn't find out they didn't receive it until you told them it was your job.

Yep, they don't always give the TL pay when they do the temp TL thing.

    Archived Softlines TL pay?

I'm not sure how raises are going to be now since AE'12 dropped TLs starting paygrade from 13 to 11, but previously a TL promotion would be $3 more than PG 3/5 (i.e. cashier / salesfloor).

    Archived Team Leader Benefits?

My best week was during a store opening: "You need to be there anytime there is support help available" "but they don't come in until 6 and on weekends, and you already have me coming in at 4 am on weekdays." "What did I just say?" I ended up working back to back 10 hour a day, 6 day work...

    Archived Team Leader Benefits?

What's really fun is talking your ETL into letting you work the holiday in addition to your normal 40 hours, since "holiday premium" hours do not count towards your normal total.
