This may be a stupid question, but I'd appreciate any help...

I was recently promoted from parttime Team Member to full-time Team Lead and will begin training within a couple of weeks. I haven't really been given much information about what sort of benefits I will be eligible for - I'm specifically interested in health insurance.

Is health insurance available to all Team Leads? I'm assuming it is, but I don't want to ask and then look ridiculous if it isn't. Things have been crazy at our store so I really don't know much about the new position yet...

Yes health insurance is available. (However be aware it is changing to trash HSA or HRA only options) Also you get 8 hours guaranteed vacation each month no matter how many hours you work, and you also get a few more holidays that other TMs don't get. (you still have to work them, but you get a bonus 8 extra hours paid to you)

Huh? What crazy state are you in where TLs get 96 hours (minimum) a year of vacation?

Everywhere I've heard of it's two weeks a year until you reach 5 years with Target, three weeks from 5 years to 10 years, and four weeks after that. (That's one week more than TMs get at the same service levels.) This is of course based on average hours worked.

Yep this is the actual answer for vacation, just like for TM it is based on years of service and hours worked.

<sigh> Two weeks = 96 hours.

...And where do Team Leaders work 48 hour weeks?

Besides which, it's still based on average hours anyway. I've had plenty of peers average 35, not 40 (certainly not 48 ). ;)

(To be fair, I'm not taking into account PH or sick leave (for states that have it) because they're not based on being a TL, just full-time.)

Actually, it's 2 weeks & 2 days (40 hr/wk x 2 = 80), but still a nice perk.

you will receive a benefits package when you are eligible - once you receive it, you;ll have 30 days to sign up

The best benefit is getting paid "DOUBLE TIME AND A HALF" on paid holidays when you work.!

No... just time and a half.

Double time and a half is how the pay works out for TLs if they work a paid holiday. For example, take Memorial Day or Fourth of July. As a TL, whether you work on that day or not, you get paid for that day, and at your normal rate. Say $15 x 8 hours = $120. But if you actually work that day, you also get paid standard holiday pay of time and a half. So $15 x 1.5 x 8 hours = $180. So together, $120 + $180 = $300 for that one day of work. So divide that $300 by the 8 actual hours that you put in, and you get a functional rate of $37.50, which is $15 x 2.5, or double time and a half.

That's why, as TLs, we try hell or high water to make sure we are scheduled to work on paid holidays that the store is open.

And why most DFMs make sure the SFTs have that day off since they aren't involved in the sales aspect of things. Be nice to see 2.5x the pay, lol.

What's really fun is talking your ETL into letting you work the holiday in addition to your normal 40 hours, since "holiday premium" hours do not count towards your normal total.

We have a winner.

What's that you say? 80 hours plus 8 (for the holiday) plus 12 (for working 8 ON the holiday)? Why yes, I'll take that 100-hour check, thank you for offering.

Sadly, I've only pulled it off twice.

(Actually, my best check was when I was running our remodel. Our Remodel Specialist approved 5 hours a week of OT for me and my PTL, so we both worked 45 hours a week. We had one holiday during the remodel, and that week I worked 45 hours over the 4 regular days PLUS 12 on the holiday. That was the longest week ever, but it was also the Best. Check. Ever. And I got a TON of work done!)

My best week was during a store opening: "You need to be there anytime there is support help available" "but they don't come in until 6 and on weekends, and you already have me coming in at 4 am on weekdays." "What did I just say?"

I ended up working back to back 10 hour a day, 6 day work weeks. That was a wonderful paycheck, sadly the following week a different ETL said "sorry, no more OT for you"
