I went through the interview process (phone interview, in person interview, job offer, and then drug/background testing). I passed everything but that was 3 weeks ago and i still haven't been contacted by HR with a date for orientation. I've called the HR department at the store but the only thing they could tell me was to "Wait by the phone".

I guess my question is, Does it usually take this long? Should i be expecting a call soon or is it a lost cause?

yes it does take that long, they wanted me to wait a month! just call them up and ask when you can go for orientation.

Yeah, it does take a while. It took about two or three weeks for me. They had set me up with an earlier orientation but they kept on rescheduling.

Oh and check your email. The HRTM sent me an email with the date, but she also called me.

Thanks for the responses.

I've called twice in the past 3 weeks, and every time i call they say "There's no set date, just wait by the phone".

I got interviewed, hired, and drug tested on the spot (no pun intended) in August and I had my orientation in October. lol.

I got hired on early last summer along with a few other tms, passed my drug test the next day, but didn't hear back from them. I was told it shouldn't take more than a week for them to give me a call. I called after a week and they couldn't tell me anything. Same after two weeks. After three weeks, I finally got to talk to the ETL-HR, and she was shocked I still hadn't had my orientation. They brought me in two days later and I did it by myself in the training room. Apparently everyone I got hired with had their orientations a week or so prior.

So yeah, just keep calling for updates. I'm sure they'll bring you in eventually.

I ahd the same issue, they kept trying to schedule my orientation during the working hours for my other job....doesn't really work that well....finally after about 3 weeks they fianlly did a Sunday class....

Target needs to realize most people who are applying for this kind of ****ty paying job want their job ASAP. After I left spot I got multiple offers from places -- and guess what? The places that made offers/orientations sooner were the ones I ended up working at. That store needs to get their act together if they want a competent work force.

Sometimes they don't have training hours available yet and don't want to hold an orientation only to not be able to give out training schedules.

At least that's what happens in my store. :(

Good. The fact that there are no training hours available will hold these piece of **** stores accountable for their crappy turnover.

The way things sound with spot's new cutthroat tactics on Cashiers and other TMs, the cutting of pay&benefits, and other shenanigans, theres going to be no one working at spot except NEW PEOPLE! Instead of having experienced specialists to make the guest experience a positive one, there is going to be poorly trained new team members who don't know what they're doing. Then after they figure out what a ****ty job Target is, the cycle repeats all over again. Its already begun at my old store.

So they finally called with a date for orientation but it conflicted with a final exam i have so i had to pass. The guy on the phone said it was ok that they would call me for the next one. Hope thats the case. i was really excited about this job.

Check your email... they told me they were going to call but never did ... instead i got an email with my orientation date c:
