Are most stores lenient on attendance?

This is something that I had a question on for awhile.

I've worked at 2 stores. One during seasonal 2025, and the other currently. Seasonal, I had a medical issues and I called in almost a whole week, and it wasn't until the 6th call out, that I got a coaching.

At this store, I got sick my first week, and called out twice, I went back in, let them know I was sick, and then my TL said "We need to document it" but I never got a coaching or thing in Workday that had anything. Even my current ETL didn't mention anything.

And I've been told at my store that people call out DAILY (like weekly too, we have a girl who calls out twice a week, and she's been there 3 months)

Are stores really lenient? Like how does this work. Because my STL said that in June they're instituting a new program where: 3 Call offs- coaching, 3 more- final - any more - term

All this shit depends on who you are. Draw conclusions, use your imagination. I won't specify HOW you are coddled and protected. Conversely HOW and why one gets fired. It's very subjective.

Usually all stores are strict on attendance. Depends on your leadership, your productivity and connection with leadership. Unless its congtagious, Target still wants you to work. During your first 90days, they can give you any reason for letting you go.

When you callout, provide ASAP notice before your shift.

If you are sick, always try to get a doctors note but really its not treated as a valid excuse unless you are throwing up, have the flu, or deaths door.

That attenance program is an oldy being dug back up. Thats how my stores operated back in the 2000s.

I missed some time due to two surgeries, minor outpatient, a few days off for each. I explained what was going on and did NOT get a Dr. note. I refused to get one, they never asked for one anyway. Had they asked, I would have told them to call the doc office. WTF, Jr High School crap?

You can't see your documentation on attendance issues, only leaders & HR.

They'll be going to a point system soonish, we were told to expect a 30% loss in work force. I believe it, as it's currently really hard to term someone with bad attendance.

Wow, that's pretty significant. Would be good to get rid of slackers. What about the *kids* who stand around chatting and not working? (They're not teenagers, in their early 20s and should be old enough to know better.)

I wonder if someone is going to monitor the time clock? A lot of my store's TMs clock in right away, then putter around putting away their lunch, coat, etc. It's a good little while before they're actually on the floor, zebra at the ready.
