How do you guys separate repack combos on the truck. During the unload or what. I had a way that was working but it would take a team member out their section and thus they would miss boxes. Now I have them separate it on the line into repacks but it just looks messy and not even done when the unload is done. Can somebody give me a better idea?

We have 2 folks do repacks & everyone esle do the wave of push.

We separate them off of the line into 2 different tubs: one tub for cosmetics and HBA (departments 5 and 6 I believe), and another tub for the rest of hardlines. Softlines breaks out their own repacks. From there we have one team member per tub who sorts the repacks into smart carts according to section, and they get pushed once all boxes are off the floor. We have bed sheets in one cart, children's bedding and blankets in another, curtains, sporting goods and toys, and so on. It's always worked pretty well for us, except for when we're going through a transition and get a ton of stage merchandise in repacks to sort through...

So yall get all them broken out then when the respective sections casepacks are done, then you push the repacks? Does the entire flow team help push the repacks or do you have repack specialists that only push repack carts? I was thinking about haveing my repack specialista come in 30 min after unload starts so they can start breaking out repacks so after unload they are either done breaking out or close

Electronics (2), HBA (5), Stationery (6), and softlines (10-16) all have their own flats/pallets.

1, combo, 3, and 4 repacks will go on a pallet. If there's a lot, we'll bring out the black (3,4) and red (1,combo) repacks separately after the truck. Depending on how many people we have, someone will start a sort at some point inbetween D and E block and start pushing full carts to respective aisles. When softlines finishes, they usually wave to the repack carts to get them done.

Ok does the wave team ever help with pushing the carts or they focus on casepacks? I ask cuz im thinking about having my repack specialists break out Stationery and Small app repacks in A and B block then have them help the wave team get all the boxes done then go finish pushing their repacks since that is our hardest blocks

If it's your biggest areas, I think waving your whole team to a certain area is a great idea. You'll definitely get it done fast and can use the people with PDAs to clear the carts if you happen to be short on them.

I know for us, we'll spend 10 minutes in HBA before huddle as a team and just knock out tons of aisles before we head to break.

We generally knock out HBA/Cosmestics before break because I use 3 but i Had 2 today and i went just fine, so I might throw thethe extra person on the wave team..When softlines finishes i usually send two to infant hardlines and one to finish shoes. Domestics repacks is the one i worry about because we can easily get 30 a truck.

We work the 7:30am process, so we cant bowl on the floor anymore and we are a push-all process..High velocity areas works from pallets and the rest is either on flats or bowled into carts. I dont think we could push all the boxes then work repacks because a few of my team members like to leave before truck is done, so we gotta get everything done together. The only repacks we sort through during unload is combos..The other repacks have a vehicle they go on. HBA has a tub, domestics has ots on flat. Small apps and Stationary just go on the flat with the push repacks.Im thinking these guys can get a better start comin in at 8am grabbing their repacks and breaking out on the floor during unload. We dont have any room to break out during unload for other repacks

Speaking from an Instocks point of view: It would really help to have the repacks sorted and worked WITH the freight in each aisle. We cannot scan until an entire area has been pushed.

Yeah....so much for "what's best for the guest"....Not a dis on you, just a commentary on how the instocks process is the redheaded stepchild of Target. It's not "ideal", it's necessary. We get blasted for not completing our task lists but are completely dependent upon other teams doing their part first. Salesfloor needs to zone and actually push the (hahaha) priority pulls, flow needs to FINISH THE FLIPPIN' TRUCK, backroom has to complete backstock and quit burning batches, plano needs to tie correctly and do the research (sick to death of "why is the research with location number so high? DUH - because it's still in the backroom?), pricing needs to put their flippin' labels in the right spot and in all the locations, ad team needs to actually put all of the signs up...nobody else makes rainchecks and substitutions or PTM zones or pulls.... If it's not done by the appropriate team, hey! the instocks team can do it. Sorry, I'm ranting.....now I'm done. (It's been a rough couple of weeks!)

No i understand what u saying, but in reality every workcenter depends on the next for success. Instocks is rough now with the whole completing the task list everyday. But the truck is the first priority. Thats why stores to be together is making sure its get pushed. It affects the backroom, then it affects instocks. It all starts wit the truck. So the quicker you get the truck pushed and however u do it will make everybody job easier. As far as the sales floor, i have been there. Sometimes its about getting the zone done everything pulled forward, if u spend time makim sure everything in the right spot, u gonna take forever to zone..back in the day was better. Certain areas were superzoned on certain days to make it easier for instocks to shoot research

I'm NOT talking about making a job easier. I am talking about doing the job right. As far as all of the examples of "it's all about..." I disagree. It is ONLY about filling the floor in the most efficient, cost effective way in order to sell product and make a profit.

I hate unlabelled or combo boxes. If we have time, we use a knife, cut it, and see what it is. Sometimes, we will just throw it on a random pallet (usually we throw it on HBA). The TL's want us to look inside the boxes. Sometimes, we see some "sporting goods" items in it; we throw it on the "38 pallet".

Usually I'll have my HBA team take care of the HBA freight on the floor, the HBA pull, the #1 repacks (rx), #2 (makeup), #5 (shave, bandaid, fem hygiene, and stomach meds) and #12 (hair color, lotion, hair accessories) plus the cosmetics repacks. They are a strong team of 3 usually. I'm thinking about having the wave team hit the HBA aisles for freight and move the HBA team to just repacks so they can get finished sooner. We roll makeup frequently.
