On short term disability and I don't think I will ever be able to return to TL position and be on my feet 40 hours a week. So since two are on the bench I requested to be demoted. Told HR if I return it will be only part time due to my knee surgery. She was not too happy but I don't want them without a TL any longer.

Sorry to hear about your injury.
Have you looked into the state Division of Vocational Rehabilitation?
They are often able to pay for retraining and support to get you into another field where you might make good money even with your injury.
