The reason for the display is so that you don't have to open the box and tear apart the packaging to see what the item looks like, or how big it is etc. So please people STOP opening the package!!!! UGH I really hate when people do that!

Yet the the Good Will loves it when people do that, unfortunately our profit margin does not! XD

As one of the people who has to put out those displays this is a major peeve of mine.
Also, why steal a display? Didn't you notice that the cord was cut off of the Dyson?

Which Dyson do you have that had a cord cut on it? All our Dyson displays were out of box product. Except the fan from last year though, that was a Perfect Placement unit.

I cannot stand guests that tear boxes open, especially when they haven't even paid for the item. Or the ones that ask if they can buy the display model. There's a reason why it's on display and not on the shelf...

Which is why I cut the cords off of them. The signing specialist who trained me did it as SOP and it wasn't till I started reading the website that I found out he was kinda cutting corners a bit.
For many of the displays I damage them out and cut the cords off. Saves from having to replace them every time some well meaning associate decides to sell the display and most of the time deters theft (except that once).

I try telling guests that our displays are manufacturer defects. I tell them that we get their manufacturing line defective units and Target does not have to pay full price for a "working" display. I also like to add that it may spark or short out on use. That usually seals the deal.
