Archived Hired Electronics/Sales Floor. Banished to Front Lanes? RANT

Have you been banished to the front lanes or another part of the store you hate?

So I was hired around a year ago as Electronics/Sales Floor. I was never really put in there, but I was trained to do it. They had me do sales floor for a while, but then I changed my availability.

Now all I've been getting is Cashier shifts, have I been banished?

This has been happening for the past 7 months.

I've talked to my STL, HRTL, HRTM, and you name it. I've talked to all of my higher ups.

My yearly review was done by a HL TL , and she gave me a "IE" score.

They've hired 4 new electronics people in my time as a "Electronics/Sales Floor" TM. What my question is "Why hire new people when you've got someone who is trained and wanting to get into Elec.?"

All of these new people have come and left, all quit/fired.

Yet to this day I'm not officially electronics.

I HATE being a cashier. I used to enjoy the occasional cashier shift. But now I'm so tired of couponers BS and the REDCARD BS.

The new GSTLs they hire are always buddy buddy with all of the LODs and TL. They always give themselves 4 breaks and are never there when we need them.

I don't know what to do.. quit or go on a LOA for school.

Did you get along with everyone there in the team? I've had people come over to train and I go follow up with my team and they basically give me the verdict of whether they think that person will do well or not.

Yes, but mine was self-inflicted, I took a promotion as GSA!

Nah, but in all seriousness I actually mostly like service desk and cash office, even opening GSA shifts aren't so bad. It's closing with enough payroll that I couldn't reasonably close a 7-11 with that gets to me.

We just had someone on our team "banished" because of not getting along with the rest of the team.. took a while to happen though lol 🙄.. now granted they may still give them the occasional shift when we need help or want to go on vacation. You either got on someone's shit list because of your availability change or they think you're a better fit up front.. sorry

We just recently had someone hired as sales floor but they moved her to cashier because she couldn't keep off her phone lol

I've always gotten along with my TL and LODs. I have always had an open availability.

I've always gotten along with all the people on my team.

Not sure why I would be put on a shit list by a LOD.

And yes, I'll probably never get a straight answer.

At this point, it doesn't even have to be Electronics. I just want to get off the front lanes.

I don't know why they don't cycle through their existing TMs for open positions like this, I thought they were supposed to stay internal before going external.

I've always gotten a high attachment rate in Electronics, don't see why I don't get to be back there more often.

You said in your first post that you changed your availability. Did you go from limited availability to full availability? That makes no sense.

What was the IE score for? Attachments are great, but there is so much more to the job.

I had a limited availability due to school and such, I opened it up to all day every day for the summer.

I think it was because I called in probably 4 times during school when the HR people never replied to my time off requests.

I do my zone effectively, make sure my duties are done before I leave the store. (whenever I'm on the floor)

Not sure why I would be put on one of those lists... I always do my job unlike some people in the store

4 times all year isn't a lot.

I can understand if I call in like once a week, but 4 times in this whole year?

I only call in if something comes up at school. School is far more important than this job to me.

When the requests were auto-denied, did you bring it to your TL/ETL's attention? When the schedule was written, did you bring it to your TL/ETL's attention again? And did you do so as soon as you saw the posted schedule (that Thursday, Friday, absolutely no later than Saturday)? Did you out those shifts on the swap board? Did you beg everyone you could find to either take the shift or switch before calling in?

If you can't honestly answer yes to every single question, they won't have much sympathy for the planned call offs.

Yes, I've brought it to their attention.

I called in for Cashier shifts only. I tried to see if my other team members could help me out by covering. I always tried to make sure that they had someone there.

I never call in for Electronics shifts, since I love doing electronics.

In my opinion - GO BACK TO SCHOOL - education is key. Education can open up a wider range areas for you.. Let's see - put your schooling and school opportunities in one hand, what you will get from it, places you can go with the education. - Put Target Opportunities, promotions, satisfaction, in the other. Which one outweighs the other.. Pick the heavier hand. Good Luck to you.

I had several HL team members "loaned" to me for cashier usage, mainly those who failed to grasp the concept of AAR, the TLs didn't like, or had attendance problems.

When it comes to moving you again, especially moving you back to electronics, leadership is going to take your performance as a cashier into consideration.
