Next week will be my 90 days, and I've noticed something -- I'm getting 10 less hours every week.

Since starting with Target, I've been getting 31-34 hours a week. However, after this week, I'm down to 23.

I have open availability, cover shifts, stay late, and work my ass off. I'm training to be softlines brand for jewelry and shoes (though usually, they give me the shifts and I have to figure things out for myself) & just had my first training shift in Electronics.

I know things are changing since a lot of people are going back to school & we're hiring to ramp up for the holidays. However, I can't think of anything that would mean less for me, as I'm wide open and willing.

So....am I reading into things? Or should I enjoy the next two weeks with the extra day off? I do plan to pick up shifts where I can, since a 20 hour shortage on my check = almost not enough to pay bills/rent. Should I talk to my ETL-GE or HR? Our GE ETL is brand new and they're still trying to figure out what they want to do/where to put people...

Anyway, I'd love some advice. I've learned a lot lurking on the boards!

There is a lull in sales after the back to school rush and prior to the fall/Halloween season ( at least in my store) so hours tend to dip a little during this time . I wouldn't take it personal. However, I would talk to my tl, etl, hr etc etc...and make sure they know you are looking more hours and are willing to pick up shifts etc...this way they can keep you in mind if something comes up. Just don't beat yourself up

It probably has nothing to do with you or your performance. Target tries hard to keep employees under 30 hours per week to prevent offering health insurance. My store doesn't schedule any regular TMs other than HR, for more than 26 hours each week. However, no one prevents TMs from picking up extra shifts from the Swap Book.

As suggested, talk to your TL or ETL to find out what is going on and to make them aware of your desire for more hours.

While TMs are under their 90, they usually get a pretty full schedule; partly for immersion (working day after day to get your stride in your workcenter) & partly to make sure you can handle the hours.
Unless you're a TL or in a specialized area, hours tend to go down to what would be 'normal' until 4th quarter.
That's when you find out how many hours/wk you can handle.
And working retail during 4th quarter ain't for sissies.

I know my store is cutting hours for next week and the week after. Sales gave been down at my store, so this may have something to do with it, I'm not sure.

Officially, Oct 1st; unofficially, as soon as you start getting pallets of candy.
It's already started at my store.
Lord help us all....
The grocery stores around here already have their Halloween candy on the sales floor...

In my store, we already have Christmas tree undies in girls' for some reason lol. I thought it was a mistake and pulled them off the shelf. They're on the pog though, so they're supposed to be there. I... Still put them underneath something else because it's still 90° everyday and I'm not ready for Christmas tree things. We also have hats and scarves out. Oh, retail....

Oh yea, I also saw backroom kid putting out a couple Halloween costumes the other day. That one doesn't bother me, because my costume is already completely planned. if all goes well, I'm doing Ursula of The Little Mermaid.

On the initial topic, it seems everyone's hours have been cut based on some conversations I had with coworkers. I've been doing 40 for the past few months (and I complained through it all, because greener grass) but next week and the following week, I have 25ish hours. I'm more pissed that they broke it up into so many 4 and 5 hour shifts then I am about the actual drop.

4th quarter is The first Sunday of November to The last week of January (that could fall on a few days into February)

Yeah my hours got cut from 20 hours to 8 hours ....which was split into two four hour shifts... we talked to our new ETL GE/SF and she says its they don't want us to go into meal compliance which is ridiculous bs.. only one person on our electronic team goes into meal compliance 😡

I wondered about those underwear too! We've had them for a while now and they definitely seem out of place!

I normally get 32-36 hours and I'm down to 28 next week. Normally, 15-16 hours for ad prep and they cut me down to 12 the following week.
