Archived Inventory???

So ive been working at target for about 3 months and I've only been a cashier. But next week I'm being put on inventory. I don't really know what that means! Should I talk to my LOD that day and ask where I should go. Or is it some sort of mistake? I'm very confused!

It is no mistake, unfortunately. You are most likely going to be helping prep inventory. Each year spot does an entire store inventory to make sure counts are right and stuff. Prep in my store includes basically a lot of super zoning. Talk to your LOD and see where s/he would like you to go when you get there for your shift.

At my store, Inventory is used as a paper workcenter for shoes, cosmetics, and seasonal projects. Other stores may use it for just about anything that they feel doesn't fall under other workcenters, similar to Logistics Zone.

OP, ask your GSTL or LOD about it and they should be able to tell you what you'll be doing.
