Archived Opening softlines

I'm opening softlines for the first time tomorrow and I'm wondering what exactly that entails. What do softlines TMs do in a morning shift? Is there a specific routine to follow?

Also, this is probably a really dumb question, but what is ready-to-wear?

Ready-to-wear is women's clothing. It includes items that don't fit into any other area (performance wear, intimates, sleepwear, hosiery, or accessories).

Softlines opening routines vary by store, but at my store, the team almost always starts with the previous night's re-shop. When you get in, walkie your TL or the LOD for instructions.

reshop,reshop, reshop and zoning any areas that might need help from the night before (in our softlines that is often jewelry, accessories, sleepwear/active wear)...they call that "opportunities." Also you will often do rack alignment .

Depending on your store needs you may end up doing:

-Rack alignment to straighten the racks and make them look presentable
-Signing (some areas still have signs, so those have to be checked to make sure they are price accurate)
-Zoning
-Processing
-Reshop (most likely)
-Projects like ptm-ing or setting up endcaps (Least likely now due to the time of year, but one never knows)

I just do whatever needs the most work. If there's unsorted from the night before, they (at my store) like us to do that first. Rarely happens, though, and if we have a fitting room attendant scheduled within the first hour of the day, I don't bother. If tables look bad, I do tables. Most of the time, there's already someone there who can tell me what to do (TL, ETL, Specialist...), otherwise, I usually just do reshop.
