Purchasing items off the clock?

So I left for the day and I was waiting in another line when someone working the check lanes said he could check me out on a different one, I was the next one in that line so I thought he was opening the register. I got my items and a guest walked up and he said “sorry, I’m closed”… I didn’t know he wasn’t actually going to keep the lane open. I’m pretty new to target and it didn’t really sit right with me after I knew he wasn’t really open. Can I get in trouble for this? Is that against team member purchasing guidelines?

Edit: I’m not looking to snitch on anyone. Just curious

No, you're fine, and it's not unusual for TMs to check out other TMs even if they're closing up or not officially open. It's kind of a professional courtesy. Maybe they thought you were on break or something but either way you're good.
