On the subject of risk, one of the things that people are consistently missing is that the rate of violent crime has dropped and has been dropping since the nineties.
We spend so much time being told to be afraid that it's hard to realize that, most of the murders are committed not by random shooters but by members of the family.
A good portion of the people who are in jail are there for drug related crimes.
I believe in concealed carry by people who are trained and who practice regularly, especially women.
But to think that guns are the solution to all problems is foolish to the extreme.
I also believe that a trained person would know when not to use the gun just like the man during the Giffords shooting.
And finally, there have been cases where a crazy person has attacked multiple people with other weapons than a gun.
The mortality rate has never been as high, in China most of the kids lived, and the person was taken out fairly quickly.
Evil will never be destroyed but most of the rest the world finds our infatuation with guns and the number of crazed killings to be very confusing and easily solved.
