I've got an interview lined up for a job I really want but I'd like to keep my job target just in case the new job doesn't work out(that being if I even get the job). What are my chances of me successfully changing my max hours to 10 hours a week? And also maybe making myself unavailable during the day on weekends and the night during some weekdays?

Depending on your workcenter this may be ok. so let's say you'd be available
tues, Thurs, Fri 8-430
and sat, sun 430-10 or something.

If you're a cashier, that's not bad.
If you're sales floor, well the weekend closings would work.. but the weekday openings are probably not going to fly, as these are often the TLS shifts and all other hours are closing hours.

You can request an loa for personal reasons... make sure you don't tell anyone at work that you're requesting one due to another job. If hr hears that they could deny it. If they do deny you as long as you have weekend availability you should be fine as that is the hours they need covered the most.
