April-May. you are scored based on your execution (or lack thereof) of your core roles.

U (forgot what this stands for, bad though)
IE - inconsistently effective
E - effective
EX - exceptional
O - outstanding

Then your final review score is an average of all your individual scores... Raises are % based off how good a score you got.

Thats all I know.... Any TLs help me out?

U- stands for unsatisfactory

A lot of stores (including mine) skew reviews heavily. I worked my ass off as a Cart Attendant (got Great team hero the same month, promoted a couple months lateR), and all I got was an E!

Always go in expecting less than what you think you deserve, because thats usually how it rolls. Of course TLs and above will usually get what they deserve (or think they deserve), its just the TMs who get shafted mostly.

Or useless. Lol.

Reviews for TMs are usually in April, and the raise takes effect in early May, and should show up on your paycheck by the second paycheck in May. Each review score has a % associated to it. For example, say it goes like this.

Hypothetically:
U - 0%
IE - 1%
E - 2.5%
EX - 4%
O - 6.5%

Say you make $8.50 and you are one of the lucky 5-10 people in the building to get an excellent review, an EX. 4% of $8.50 is $0.34. So that's your raise, and you now make $8.84. If you average in the high 30s for hours, that equates to about $30-$40 extra per month. So maybe $15-$20 per check. Might help. Might not.

But more realistically, let's say you got an E or IE. So your raise will be $0.21 or $0.09. And more realistically you are in the mid 20s per week for hours. So your raise probably didn't even get you $10 per month. Wheeee. :|

The reason for the skew is that stores get a raise budget. For example, say the store gets $25 for raises. Wait, what the hell does that mean? That means if you add up all the raises for everyone - $0.05, $0.10, $0.67, $0.34, $0.16, $0.18, $0.07, etc.; it should not go over a total of $25. Hence why so many people get shafted on their reviews, and thus their raises. In a system like that, someone is getting screwed. A whole lot of someones.

It's also why your ETL-HR may change the review you wrote for a particular TM; because either the store went over the raise budget and someone has to get knocked down a peg on the review to help bring the budget in line, or after all the raises are in, they still haven't hit the budget yet, and so that particular TM that they think is a great worker because of how much of a snitch and kiss-ass they are to them, yet because you are their TL you know from firsthand on a day-to-day basis is f***ing useless - gets bumped up a peg on the review because the raise budget allows it.

Wow are they really THAT low? That's depressing as hell.

Who gives the reviews btw? Ive never really looked into it minus talking to one of the TLs about it at break once.

Your Team Lead will give it for you to read and sign. They will write it, submit it for editing and then read to you what the ETL "corrected".

take your review with a grain of salt. everything cihyfthedoor said is "spot on". ;)
i have tm that i love to work with. i would give almost every person on my team an ex or o. but my stls mindset is that since they make more (theyve been there a long time), then they have to work twice as hard to earn their raise, even though they completely execute their core roles 100%. please don't hold your reviews against your tl. i've spent hours arguing with the hr/stl about my guys to get them a better score, but there's only so much they will do. especially if your stl/etl doesn't like you. in that case, you're a sitting duck regardless of how you really perform.

I was told once (at a previous employer) that to get the highest scoreE, in this case an O, then you would have to walk on water so I would be happy with an E but know realistically that I will probably end up closer to an IE. Why? Simply because I don't call in, I have been late once this year, I always give my 100%, I don't stand around and chit chat, I put things back where they belong and I care. Not just at Target but at all my jobs I have learned that your review isn't a reflection of how well you do your job but rather a corporate game. If you don't like what you make then find something that makes you happy. I may not make much but compared with my past experience of feeling sick and dreading work everyday but I am happy so a big raise would be nice but I know I did a good job this year and for me that is enough.

I had a previous job where I could never get the top rating because my boss didn't like how it was worded since it implied there was no way to get any better and he figures that a person could always improve. So it completely screwed me over every single time review time came around since he saw it differently than upper management.

My last job, I worked for 3 years, no review, no raise, minimum wage, nothing. I finally got fed up when I was making the same amount as a girl who started who couldn't make change or handle doing anything by herself. I figured if we were worth the same amount in their eyes, I was done.

I figure whatever Spot decides to throw at me can't be much worse.

Good memory! And that's what I tell myself...even on the really bad days at Spot, (there have only been a few) they were nearly like good days at the pizza place.

And if you're one of the former specialists who's capped, the best you could ever hope for is a 3% raise if you get an "O".
Yipee.

by the way does anyone else see that the ones who actually work there asses off are the ones who get shafted on reviews and the ones who stand around and screw off at Starbucks and cafe are the ones who always are the ones bragging about how they got an E or O and get the highest raises it drives me absolutely berserko. for the love of all that is holy give us an honest review don't screw us over cause we don't kiss ass and screw around all god damn day. sorry guys this time of year is always a pain in the ass for me:wacko:
