Last week, my HR ETL asked me if I was interested in traveling to other stores in the district to help with their inventory days. I'd never done it before since I didn't like the idea of traveling around the city to work 10 hour shifts starting at 4 AM. Who in their right mind would want to do that? But this year, I agreed to do it once I saw the list of the other stores I'd be working at. One of them was a store that my old crush had transferred to last year. We worked together for a couple years at this store and once I found out that she was transferring soon, I made plans to ask her out. I told some other team members about my plans to ask her on a date and gossip around this store typically gets around pretty quick. I was pretty disappointed to see that she had called out sick on what was supposed to be her last day, so I couldn't ask her out in person. I then decided to ask her out online. I sent her a follow request on Instagram and she never responded to it. To this day, the request still says "Pending" and I just figured that she doesn't use her socials often.
So I ultimately agreed to do the inventory just to go to her store, catch up with her, and ask her out then and there. But one of my friends at work told me that he's friends with her on Instagram and that she has a boyfriend. He claims that they started dating around April and they're regularly posting pictures together. I've been trying to wrap my head around why she wouldn't at least accept my follow request if she's clearly active on socials. But the point is that now I want to get out of inventory since she was my only reason for doing it in the first place. I'm already on the two weeks out schedule for inventory at another store and now I'm wondering how I can get out of it and whether or not it'd be wrong for me to do so. Who do I talk to? My GM ETL? HR? SD?
