Thank God chicago has sick time. If your area has a sick pay rule, ask to use it to cover your absence. At least in chicago they cannot deny the claim/and or discipline you for it. Of course this will vary wildly depending on where you work.

TBH stick with fulfillment. If your GM half your time is spent in fulfillment anyway, with the added pressure of finishing your own work as well. Take this as a blessing in disguise.
Some states there is a reward( bounty ) for finding a incorrect shelf tag. Ie if the tag says 2.49 but th3 item rings $2.99 the guests get the difference Plus $5(the bounty) for finding the incorrect price tag. Michigan is one state that does this, as well as Ohio if I'm not mistaken could be...
