A friend use to work there and accidentally took a few walkies home with him, can they be used like regular walkie talkies or they on for use in the store ?

Methinks that "friend" needs to get off his butt and return those walkies back to Target ASAP. Just bring them to the Service Desk and give them to the Team Lead, apologize, and in all likelihood the store will truly appreciate returning those walkies. If the "friend" doesn't have the integrity to return those walkies, ask them how they'd feel if someone "accidentally" took a few useful things out of his home when they were invited over as a guest (party, socializing). Not good karma around keeping stuff that doesn't belong to you.....

You took a few? Grow up. Admit it, take them back and clean your slate. Don't play moronic word games with the folks on TBR, we see right through it.

I've worn my walkie home a couple of times, took it back when I went for my next shift. One time, I was walking to my car in the parking lot when someone started talking on it - was able to hand it off to another TM arriving for their shift. Another time, when I was riding my bike to work most days, I was halfway home before I realized it was still clipped to my pocket. No way was I going to bike back at that point, but I did kind of wonder how I got so far without noticing.

So I definitely understand taking one home accidentally. But I don't get how someone ends up with a little collection of them at home.

Can't be used outside the stores anyway, they have to be close enough to connect to the Target server at the store

A PML once told me that, yes, you could grab two, leave the store, and two people could use those two walkies to talk to each other.

If that's true, still, they run on batteries that need to be charged.

@Spazzy253, did your friend accidentally take a charger home, too?

The AP guy that lives in my brain tells me to say it won't work anyway, to discourage such behavior. Also your shoes are untied. Everything you read online is the truth.
