    Realistic timeline TL-ETL

ETLs and above do get larger bonuses, but whether or not the effort and time invested are worth it is debatable. In addition to looking at overall store metrics, Target overlords look at your workcenter's metrics and your overall contribution to your store and district before giving you your...

    ETL Review scores

I am one of my district's ETL mentors and ETL trainer for my workcenter. Green metrics across the board in 2020. I received a 4.2% increase and Corp Performance Score of 175. I bust my butt every single day, go for support help to other stores regularly, and as a result, my DSD loves me. The...

    ETL - Specialty Sales

Set clear expectations with your team leads (make sure these are high, but reasonable) and ensure they are setting similarly high standards for your TMs. Have weekly status meetings with your TLs and walk "a visit" of their areas with them. Write your own schedule and make sure your team leads...

Archived Internal Promoting to Leader (ETL) - Interview Help

As this thread is being resurrected right now and Q2 interviews are in full swing, I figure I'd share my interview experience (I passed). Think of 4-5 scenarios that are high in both scope and complexity. Ideally, your stories would provide great examples of you being bold, accountable, curious...

Archived Internal Promoting to Leader (ETL) - Interview Help

Hello, everyone! It's been a little over 20 months since my promotion to senior team lead and 18 months since I've opened a brand new flexible format store. I've done really well in my role - so well that my DTL recently took me out of my express Target and asked me to help a struggling...

Archived Forced to drink the Kool aid or get out.

Our DTL has specifically told us that any team leads or TMs who are not 100% on board and excited about modernization "need to go immediately." I saved an e-mail that said any "dinosaurs" (read: Target veteran TMs) who are unwilling to adapt to these changes should be replaced ASAP.

Archived Going to a Meet&Greet/Interview for Store Transfer, Advice?

Oh, and make sure you're ordering any missing signing, fixtures, and other non-retail materials ASAP. SAP is your friend.

Archived Going to a Meet&Greet/Interview for Store Transfer, Advice?

Your experience will depend on a variety of factors. Are you already a senior? If not, get as much practice as possible running LOD shifts. You will be LOD-ing two to three times a week, so you won't really have too much time to spend in your primary workcenter. It's important to train a good...

Archived Going to a Meet&Greet/Interview for Store Transfer, Advice?

I have some insight here. I was a senior before opening/working in a flex format store and it was considered more of a promotion than a lateral move. I also received a raise. In an express store, your job code would be SrTL-LOD, and you would essentially do everything an ETL does in a regular...

    Archived Locking doors at close

My giant two-story Target has crap doors as well. Ask a more experienced LOD for tips with specific doors - there are doors that I have to gently kick while turning the key in order for them to latch. You will probably have an easier time once your new key gets blunt with repeated use.

    Archived SrTL Interview

Not quite sure yet! Since a micro Target doesn't have any ETLs, my DTL wants me (and all others in my position) to get trained for pretty much everything. I will eventually get an assignment. Keeping my fingers crossed it's either Style, HR, or GE.

    Archived SrTL Interview

Well, I just wanted to post an update for anyone who might be watching this thread. I passed my interview and am now officially keyed in as a SrTL! I will soon leave my store for fairly extensive training, and then I get to open up a shiny new micro Target. I'm excited for this new challenge and...

Archived Softlines Team Leaders - HELP.

Welcome to softlines! I highly recommend you have a check-in with every single one of your team members in order to get to know them and make sure you are on the same page regarding routines and expectations. Depending on store volume/payroll, you might have an opening team or just the fitting...

    Archived SrTL Interview

That's right - there is only an STL and a couple of SrTLs as keyholders. I know I would also eventually have to interview with the micro store's STL, which makes sense. I really hope everything goes smoothly; I'm ready for a challenge and greater authority (and more $$$).

    Archived SrTL Interview

Thank you for the advice! Yes, I am definitely planning to offer higher-scope answers and talk about the big picture. When I was first promoted to TL, I only had to interview with my DTL (my store leadership liked me so much I never even had formal interviews with HR or STL). Now, all potential...

    Archived SrTL Interview

Hi all! Long time listener, first time caller here. I've been with Target for two and a half years now, and in that time I've progressed from a TM, to brand, to TL. I just passed my eighteenth month as a TL and had a sit down with my STL and ETL-HR. They presented me with two options: have a...
