    Going salvage faster?

I was at Kohl’s last week and they still have SO MUCH Christmas clearance on the floor. At only 50% off, it should still be there for Christmas 2020, so I guess they’re winning on that upcoming set.

    New Hire Observations

Isn’t the point of working diligently, to deserve a decent hourly rate as a reward? Sorry, but the nicely gift wrapped bs “You’re really fast or you know these processes so well, so you might as well go ahead and do the work of others that can’t ... at the same pay”, just seems to fall short of...

    New Hire Observations

Kudos for taking credit on making yesterday’s sales by doing simple tasks you were hired to do. Your efforts will be graciously rewarded by raising your pay to $15 hr by the end of 2020. Impressive would have been swaying guest to purchase a bike and tv to compliment their only intended...

    Black Friday

This may have been the demise of Kmart, but will always have a special place in my heart.

    Black Friday

I personally loved the packs of Drunk Black Friday Karens that had been marinating in chardonnay all day like a holiday turkey. So much more pleasant than the everyday lone, I Need to Talk to Your Manager Karen.

Who recently quit at your store?

My last day was today! As the former signing person, I had narrowly escaped another overwhelming Christmas set. Phew!

Do you have "trainers" at your store?

We have pictures of trainers on the time clock wall, but no actual trainers since all those smiling faces have been long gone.

    I'm Lost! Price Change

We don’t mark products clearance anymore since the price accuracy team was deemed unnecessary. We like to wait until it all goes salvage, losing massive profit, but saving a few bucks in payroll

MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

Who builds the furniture displays these days? For years, it’s gone back and forth between pmtl and signing tm. Now that my signing position is gone and our lazy new pmtl’s go to response for anything is “It’s not my job”, I want to have a response for when they ask me why I haven’t done it...

    Pricing and Presentation Halloween

I poked a hole on the very top of the arch so that I could hook a string of cables to reach the ceiling tile. I had to McGyver a few things on this set.

They’re going through a little something called modernization. In short, it sucks.

    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

*Slow clap* Someone has recognized the importance and challenges of EVERY single position. I want to work with you MorePegs. The few remaining team leads have been in full on bickering mode as of late. Some of the nicest people, all ready to snap. Sadly, the recent post on this board show this...

    Archived Toy set

Same deal here. Sooo much unmarked clearance with no space and sooo little help. Spent today knocking out three aisles of baby layette clothes. Same situation as toys. None of the clearance was marked, so it didn’t sell done and everything had to be scanned. Apparently babies endcaps went...

    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

Good read InboundGrunt. “In public statements about retail tech, companies typically say that systems like self-checkout or inventory-scanning robots free up workers’ time, which can then be redirected to do other necessary tasks in stores,” Mateescu says. “However, that’s not an inevitable...

    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

I personally LOVE SCO. I no longer have to do small talk with someone after a hard, long shift. It is none of their nosey business why I’m purchasing rope, duct tape, lawn bags, and bleach. Like I mentioned, it was a hard shift.

    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

Payroll is saved on SCO that takes approximately 2 minutes per transaction. Payroll is lost being redirected to SFS employees spending 20+ minutes to fill one order that a customer use to do themselves. This is the trade off in the modern retail world and those who don’t adjust don’t make it...

    MEGATHREAD 2018-2019 Store Modernization Megathread

Agreed. It’s not just a Target thing, but an overall retail thing to stay competitive with Amazon. Just mentioning it because there is no payroll being saved with SCO, just redirected to different processes now. I’m curious how much profit is being missed out on without the Target walk-in...
