Pausing drive-up due to bad weather

I think whoever makes these decisions at my store must check a weather app, maybe on their own phone? Or their computer? Seems like I remember hearing over the walkie something like, "The 'dangerous storm warning' has been extended for another 30 minutes so drive-up is still on pause."

Is your store still price matching?

Hmm, interesting. I'm not at GS so completely unaware of any changes or controversy. But, I wouldn't be surprised at this development. With the chaos already swirling in reaction to tariffs (and the postponed ones for Canada and Mexico), it seems like importers, wholesalers, and retailers would...

    Circle Card Applications

And this is why I hate being on a register. I used to think it could be kind of fun, interacting with the guests, but the pressure to get more guests to sign up for cards takes all the fun out of it.

    Price Change TL

Talk to the TMs who push the same areas consistently. We've had some TMs doing price change who don't actually find the clearance and re-ticket it. Also non-clearance inline labels get put in the wrong places - can't tell you how many times I've seen things like a Dove body wash label...

Time Wasters that my TL makes me do.

Agree with @Dream Baby about zoning not being a waste of time. Guests put random stuff in empty spots, so if I have enough product to have all the facings filled, that keeps things neater overall. (Why we have to have 6 facings of the same Dove body wash is something I'll never understand, along...

Time Wasters that my TL makes me do.

We used to have a good zone done every night and the reshop taken care of. It's been a very long time since that's happened with any consistency. There's one aisle in my area that someone must really like to zone for some reason because it often looks quite nice even though it's shopped heavily...

Getting yelled at by team member

Hmm, makes me wonder if the TM who yelled at me a week or so before her last day at my store transferred to your store. I know she moved out of state and transferred to another Target, but no idea where. I'm so glad she's gone because we worked on different teams but in adjacent areas and she...

    Call Out Accountability

Which does no one, including Target itself, any favors. Accountability doesn't have mean dictatorship-by-ogre. In fact, it shouldn't if what's desired is a solid roster of quality TMs. About the only rules at my store that are consistently enforced are related to safety, and that's probably more...

    Call Out Accountability

Up until very recently, this has been the attitude at my store. We do have some TMs with legit issues (their own health or a seriously ill immediate family member) but a lot of it isn't. Conversations are taking place with problem TMs. And we're hiring some new TMs.

    Target Gets Worse

Well, the Style ETL is part of the problem, right? And your SD is as well, given that it's their responsibility for how the store's leadership team functions, so they've been part of the problem too. Doesn't mean your store will be getting better any time soon, but it could mean much-needed...

    Target Gets Worse

Your district leadership is visiting that frequently? Wow. Not sure what assistance they can provide during a visit, but it seems like they know things aren't good and might be working on figuring exactly what's going on. Considering how long it takes Target to terminate a regular TM, it...

    Stepping down ?

It's happened twice at my store in the 10+ years I've been there. The sticky part is that you won't be allowed to stay at your same store in a reduced position, even if it's voluntary. But if you want to stay with Target, this is a way to do it. As far as I know, there were no hard feelings...

What to do when a TL seems out to get you?

This. The other thing I would try to notice is if the TL plays favorites. If you're not one of the favorites, there are probably other TMs who aren't either, and receive the same treatment you do. Document, document, document: date & time, just the facts with no opinions.

    Good or Bad Thoughts?

Maybe think of it like writing a resume? "Accomplished these goals in this position in this time frame" type statements.

What Qualities Do You Like To See In a SD

My store has an ETL who I think secretly loves demolishing sales planner display pieces. When I was struggling to take one apart enough to get it into the bailer, he told me he'd take care of it. (I've since learned that stomping on them is effective ... and fun.)

What Qualities Do You Like To See In a SD

Be out on the sales floor and in the back room space often - they need to see what's going on in the store, interact with guests and TMs often. Don't play favorites - everyone hates it (except the favorites) and it does no one any real good (including the favorites). Back up your TMs - the guest...

Best TL position to apply for and be in?

Not being part of either of those work centers, I can't say what's going on. And it's not like GM is perfect - probably every area has its problems.

Best TL position to apply for and be in?

The team where the TMs consistently show up and do their jobs. My TL says GM is so easy because we practically never call off and most of us know what we're doing. Fulfillment is pretty consistent too. Style and Front End are always calling off and it shows by how Style is usually a mess and not...

    New P1 TL needing advice

My favorite bad example is from a while back - 18 minutes to push a flat bed of repack boxes filled with shoes. The flat was loaded so high, I could hardly reach the top boxes. It took me a lot longer than 18 minutes! I'm the DBO for OTC and personal care at my store. My leaders have actually...
