OP-just curious--where did you work seasonal a few years ago that was $13/hr and what position? I have a family member looking for seasonal work this is better than anything they are finding.

As far as the $12/hr, all current team members company wide are making that wage as of 9/16 or 9/23 based on your pay cycle. TMs that were hired between May and September at $11 were just bumped up.

Does that mean TLs will have their pay bumped up by a dollar as if 9/1 or 9/23?

I was hired at Lowe's as a seasonal back in 2014 for $13/hr as a Tools team member. I had obsoletely no experience in the Tools dept but I had plenty of work experience in other areas, like sales, electronics, appliances etc. I also had a 4-year degree. I know for a fact that another seasonal hired at the same time as me in a different dept with less retail experience, was offered less hourly pay than $13/hr. So at least at Lowe's not everyone hired at seasonal positions gets the same pay rate. After 4 months I was promoted to a regular Part-timer for $14.xx and 5 month later I applied for a full-time position at another dept within the store and I was bumped to $15.xx/hr as a Sales Specialist. Granted these were skilled positions and carried more responsibilities/stress than seasonal positions but back in the Spring of 2014 that was my starting hourly pay @Lowe's.

I think it's great that Target has raised their minimum hourly rate to $12/hr and are committed to raise it again to $15/hr by 2020. That alone will attract some talented people to seek employment at Target. However, it does not help my situation. I realize that I made a mistake to apply for a seasonal position without realizing the fact I was going to be offered minimum pay for any seasonal type work. Live and learn.

I’ve worked at Target 10 years. So I guess you could say I too (like you) have previous retail experience.

I get $12.00/hr.

The new minimum wiped out all my incremental raises over the years.

Don’t get too big of a head because you have “previous retail experience”. You’ll be working along side workers like me also making $12/hr after years of service.

I won't even bother replying to your "too big of a head" comment...

I'm soooo glad for you that you're getting minimum Target wage after 10 years with this company.

You probably deserve every $$

The bump to 12 for existing TMs was months ago. This one now is all the TMs we hired over the summer and all the new ones coming will be making 12, until now they were being hired at 11 while TMs that were there before the bump we’re making 12. TLs are the same way. TL minimum is 16 and was 15 before the bump to 12. As far as I’ve been told TL minimum will stay a 4 dollar difference so by the time it’s $15, TLs will be $19

Looking for a raise? Come to my store. Starting rate for seasonals and new hires is $12.75. However, anyone making more is shit outta luck as no raise.

I'm actually kind of surprised that OP didn't get any extra $$ if only because of their 4 year degree, you know Target seems to have a hard-on for those. I thought it was normal for most companies to pay a bit more based on education, like when I started at Wallyworld in 2006 the starting wage for cashiers was $6.50 but there was a chick who was making $13.75 right off the bat because she had a bachelor's.

Target's pay system sucks. Your education doesn't matter much unless you are an ETL or above. For everyone else, you can only get higher starting pay (based on experience) if your position is in the higher pay grades (40 and 45). Most of the positions in these pay grades are TL positions.

The managers probably weren't faking their excitement over an experienced applicant. In fact they're probably more excited than they let on. They just can't give you more than base for a seasonal TM. It's not their fault, it's just the way Target is set up.

Oh sweetie, lets talk about Bullseye wages. Their shiny new $12 an hour? ha ha. There are team members that have been here for 3 years and when the bump came they went to $12 from where ever they were. T gives annual raises, usually they are .10 to .40 per hour. These people with 3 years experience are now making the same wage as the people they are training. It is what it is....

And? I've got over two years at Target, another year with specialty retail, and a great financial background. Do I care if my entry level position wages are the same as an 18 year old who started 3 weeks ago and Target is their first job? No. After all, raising the starting wage for that person didn't cause them to lower my wage. It's not like my job duties are any different than the 18 year old's, I'm simply faster at it.

If I were in an industry where the position isn't entry level or if additional experience led to additional duties, then yeah, I would expect to make more, and negotiating for more would be expected on both sides. But folding clothes and pushing z's is not that situation.

So will they be increasing current TMs soon, like they did last year, keeping new hires on staggered $1 behind.

So, like hire now at $12, current TM up to $13.
Come May after reviews $14/13. Next fall $15/14.
May 2020, starting wage at $15, current TM $15+merit raise.
