Remember having to take the "ASVAB" test in highschool, and it was supposed to tell you what kind of career fields you might be well suited for? Well I wish Target would do their own version of that for it's employees. Like, I want to do something different in my store/with the company, but I don't know what department I'd be interested in. I wish there was a test I could take.

So, dear corporate...make this happen?

I'm curious about HR. But how the heck even do you get into that?

ASVAB was optional for my school district. I took it every year because I strongly considered joining the Army in high school.

I think it's a neat concept but I forsee too many people complaining about not getting scores or workcenters they want.

If you knew which workcenter you wanted though, why take the test?

I have a feeling some people would take the test anyway and use it as a way of justifying their demand to transfer their way into another workcenter. Not that that's nessecarily a bad thing, but I see potential for issues.

I should clarify, I mean people getting upset that they can't be put in the workcenter they want to be in/score in to. Example, lets say I'm a hardlines TM studying cybersecurity in college. If I take that test already knowing I want to be in AP, and it tells me I belong in AP, I might get upset that there's no room for me in AP, and could say something like "Oh well the test says I belong in AP, so find a way to put me there."

Just one scenario I came up with. I still like the concept though. I just naturally see the negative potential before the positive, I suppose lol

I don't see how that's any different than just having experience and thinking that means you're entitled to a job. The point isn't to say you deserve to work somewhere and give you leverage. The point is to say what you might be good at given your strengths and personality.

Exactly, correct. Regardless of what the intended use is, I think there's still the posibility of someone using it, or at least attempting to use it as a means of leveraging their way in somewhere.

But as far as the actual intended use goes, I still think it's a pretty neat idea. I'd be interested to see what other areas I might fit in with, and I think a lot of other TM's that care about their work would too.
