Archived Bike Assembly?

Anyone have experience in bike assembly? I know my way around a toolbox, so what else do I need to know if I pick up one of these shifts? I assume each bike comes with assembly instructions, many of which will essentially read the same way.

There is a new training book on bike building release 2 months ago. There is info on workbench, with some good you tube videos.
