1. First let it be said that I do not have a Smartphone, so no Cartwheel.
2. Only training I ever had about it was to scan it before hitting total.
3. Read some paperwork in a manual at the register that said we are never to touch a guests phone.

A guest comes in. We are swamped. We have no Lead GSAs all day. Just us cashiers. The place looks like a bomb hit. Running out of Large bags. No tissue paper to wrap breakables. I am on my 10th hour of the day.
Guest comes up with an overflowing cart, 1000$ worth of products.
Puts several large pillows on the belt, then plops down hundreds of dollars worth of clothes
on TOP of the pillows, Clothes begin to slide all over the floor and catch on candy and dividers and slide them in with the mess. I pull out the pillows to stop the avalanche. She replaces them and says she does not want her items touching the belt.
As I begin to ring things she says she is concerned about the discounts not coming off. I ask her if she scanned the items into her Cartwheel. She says no. I tell her she must scan the items before she comes to the line. She wants me to scan them.
I tell her I cant do that. She says the girl at GS did it for her the other day. I ask what items. She says 1 item. I tell her that we are shorthanded and I need her to scan them or go to GS if she wants to see if they will scan her items. She says no she doesn't want to move them. She wants the manager to come scan them for her. The manager tells her she cant do that, she is on a Cash register because we are slammed. She goes and gets another GS worker who starts tells her the items are in there. But she didn't scan anything? How does this work? Anyone?
I ring her items, we scan Cartwheel. She says not enough came off and she doesn't like the way I told the Manager about her request. The other customers "looked" at her. Says I am "new" very loudly to all around.
Anyhow, she's coming back tomorrow to get her discounts that were "missed".
This after I was the only dummy who said I would stay late 'cause I didn't want to bail on everyone.
I'm really surprised she didn't start claiming it was racial. That would have been REALLY funny. My sister is adopted and of the same race as she is. Not racial. Just a customer from hell.

Gosh I can't help but laugh when people pull the race card at Target. I know I treat all people equally, so it's just humorous to me. One lady flipped out because she thought she was "being mistreated" because she was "not black" like the cashier and wanted to speak to a manager. The manager was also African American lol. She flipped more and demanded to speak with someone above that manager who was white. We had to call security to escort her out...our TPS at the time was ALSO African American lmao.

that's funny ,I remember when our store manager came out to help one of those guests , the guest said he wanted to speak to the real manager because he thought that only men could be real managers , he hadn't quiet moved out of the dark ages yet.

Yup! Lol! She thought the other GS girl was the "real" manager. She didn't know she had already spoken to the "real" manager.
Thanks Hardlinesmaster for the info. :)
I went online too to look up how to use Cartwheel so I could figure out if it would have been possible to help her without too much time spent while many other people waited and confirmed that I may have been able to help her with a couple of items. But she wanted them ALL searched for.
Told my regular GSA today and he looked horrified and said,"We can't do that." I asked if he had seen her and he said nope.
