I'm talking about the One Spot / Bullseye / Whatever the newest name ...

This pure Chinese crap that you have to navigate through/beside just to get in the store...

It makes for a bad visual entering the store like - the rest of the store is filled with this nickel/dime shit.

Sorry - just had to vent. It could easily be somewhere else in the store.

Let WalMart do that CHEAP shit.

I would also prefer that it not be the first damned thing people see when they walk in the door, if for no other reason than, with the exception of the first 48 hours after a new set, the Spot in my store is always trashed. Although it would probably help if it wasn't so horribly over-pushed.

Our store does really well with One Spot. We do our best to maintain it and keep it full. Very little of this merchandise ever gets returned.

the people love it. the halloween set is one of my favorites and i understand why people buy it up. the christmas set is also nice; although, they tend to have an annoying amount of glitter. anything, but a cute decoration is probably a waste of money as the quality is pretty sucky though.

Goddamn...

So we aren't better than that...

Well you’ll be happy to know that Heyday accessories are nothing but repackaged One Spot garbage. I got a pair of Heyday headphones last week and they sound just slightly better than the earpiece AG Bell installed on his first phone. Dollar store headphones sound better than these muffled pieces of trash. “With a name like Heyday, it has to be trash.”

It's the most profitable area in the store. That's why it is where it is. Next time you go to Walmart, look at the same area. What is usually right there when you first walk in? At the one I used to work at, it was always cereal, bottled water, cases of beer and soda, stuff like that. The stuff that costs almost nothing to make but has a higher mark-up.

Bullseye's Playground is a high profit area....they probably spend only one eighth of a cent to have the $1.00 stuff made so each $1.00 sold is pure profit. The idea of the area is good, the problem is that it seldom looks good....too much product is pushed....and often not in the right areas....which kind of loses the "charm" and the themed areas which made it easier for guests to see and buy those items no longer exists.
The area is not one that "belongs" to anyone so it is ignored and looks really, really awful.

Bullseye could be so much more profitable if it could be taken care of. In my old store the person who is assigned for drive-up can work to zone that area....until they get pulled away to do re-shop.

Bullseye does have fun stuff that parents can get for their kids as a "treat" from Target...and if it were easier to see everything then it would sell faster and would hardly ever go to salvage. When the store first opened and guest services was in front of One Spot it looked pretty good. Now, it is behind guest services and hardly ever gets touched.

My store has bare shelves in that area on a regular basis. As @Serah stated, that's Pinterest Mom cocaine.

Yes, it's absolutely cheap dime store crap, but it's very profitable crap.

Yes, I refuse to drink the Kool-Aid. Gluttony and excess. I don't need anything there. Trying to cut back (have been for years now) and buy more high quality American goods anyway. All of that junk will be in the landfill in 6 months anyway. It's shameful.

If you want to increase basket size, this is one way to do it.

We should have tattoo parlors, maybe an escort service.

It's all about the money.

My wife used to buy a lot of stuff out of there for the kids in her classes as presents.
I'm willing to bet teachers are a major source of Spots sales from One Spot.

I bought it up for a teacher when it hit 90% off more than once. I mostly bought the stickers, pencils, board books, prize box stuff. She teaches special-ed, pre-K and transitional K with lots of non-verbal and limited English speakers. A good percentage of her kids were homeless as well. They were pretty excited to see the boxes arrive. I got 250 items for $20. (Still not thrilled that it all came from China, but oh well.)

The floor around that area is always trashed and not a single TL or ETL ever care about it. They walk right by it all day. The only time it gets swept up is when I'm there. It's always struck me odd how none of them care about the floor. EVER.

it's really popular with guests though

Only the cheapskate guests.

Amen.

My local store has theirs the whole length of the cartwell and SCO. Always neat and straight.

It ruined our cartwell. Plus, you have to navigate through more guests while trying to bring a run of carts.

I also like it. some cute stuff.

You gotta remember-- that stuff costs pennies to make. It's almost pure profit.

We have one cashier that basically her only job is zoning one spot... she seems to like doing it. (Personally, zoning/pushing bullseye makes me want to claw my eyes out)
