Prior to starting at my store 1 year ago, I was interviewed by 2 people -- one of my TLs for the first interview, then a different TL from another part of the store. Both interviews occurred in quick succession and promptly following the second interview, I was informed by the HRTM that I had been hired, and she handed me the conditional job offer form.

Things are different now, it seems. ALL candidates for ALL jobs at my store, even cashiers, must now interview with their ETL then the STL. I find it strange that our STL feels the need to interview everybody, including cashiers. He even interviewed me when I promoted to GSA. I always thought the STL only needed to interview for TL/ETL candidates. This new change also means that new hires have to wait to be called back for the second interview.
 
That sounds like something my stl would do, but my assumption is that he is checking out the younger ladies. Once they are hired I have noticed he texts them often. It doesn't sound ethical to me.
 
A while back, there was a mandate that came down from our DTL stating all cashiers must have their final interview with the STL. That didn't even fly for one day at my store.
 
I'm 2 weeks shy of my 90th day. I was first interviewed by my ETL and then head of HR and hired all in the same evening. No phone interview.
 
I've never heard of anyone being interviewed by our STL. Turnover is pretty high, she'd be quite busy.
 
Our STL seems to get more "involved" than most other STLs I hear/read about on this forum -- but not in a good way. From interviewing every single hire for every position in the store to having LOD shifts up to several times per week, he is very active as an STL and performs many of the same duties as his ETLs. I dislike him so I would prefer he didn't get so involved and just stayed in his office all day.
 
Our STL does a meet and greet, so I assume he can veto hiring someone, but mostly he just gets to know them and asks if they have any questions.
 
My STL holds really informal interviews after prior interviews with a TL/ETL. At least, he did that with me.
 
I was hired last fall. I had a phone interview with a dept mgr and then in store with STL. Hired on the spot and then told to go talk to HR for drug testing paperwork.
 
This is completely different than at my store. I was interviewed by a GSTL and the GE ETL for a cashier position. Right after both interviews one of the HRTMs gave the conditional job offer and told me about orientation.
 
When I got hired our STL was on indefinite LOA for illness.

Sadly he passed away a few months later.

I had a phone interview with the ETL-HR, then a TL (I think the softlines TL), then the store interview with ETL-HR.

These days, the Backroom TL does final interviews for everyone in logistics.
 
When I was hired as a seasonal cashier, I had an in-person interview with a TL, an in-person interview with an ETL, then a HR TM gave me the offer and sent me on my way to do the drug test - all in the same day.
 
Back when I was hired (non-ap role) I had two interviews, back to back. One with a TL and then the second with a ETL. Both in person. Since that time they have moved to a format where the TL interview is done over the phone but the second interview is with the ETL of the area you are going for. Sometimes (rarely) the STL does the second interview. I'm in a very high volume store, our STL doesn't have time to interview everyone. Usually she does a short meet and greet where they make the offer and hand it off to HR after that.
 
When I was hired for cashier, I actually interviewed with the....flow TL first, I think? Because I was originally called in for flow but upon realizing I am a 5'4" munchkin with the body strength of a 10 year old child I asked if there were any opportunities for elsewhere. Then I met with our then ETL-GE. Then the HR TM gave me an offer and sent me to do the drug test across the street.
 
My old STl stepped up and did interviews bc she wanted to hire only "all stars"... Yeah unless I fought for someone I really wanted, then no one got hired if i did any interviews. Etls straight up threw down personality cards, so the poor person could have solid work history and experience but if you didn't smell like target koolaide then that's probably why you didn't get hired at my old store last year haha
 
After I applied, I received an email saying no positions were available - then a week later the HRTL called me. Go figure!
