Hey everyone! I was wondering how the stores proceeding with E&E Innovation are handling the team. Does market source take over? What happened to the old electronics team? Zoning? Are the teams going through extensive additional training?

Any info is welcome!

I wish ours would get it, but there's some stupid law in place where you can't run a business out of a building you own or something. Either way, our store won't be getting bigger any time soon, sadly, so no E&E innovation.

I've got a transition coming up this week or next, haven't heard about us getting E&E Innovation...but I can dream.

Also we're down to 1 Elec TM, so there's no hard feelings if Market Source wants to take over :p

I was reviewing the transition materials and the e&e innovation guide yesterday to see what was new since the last few threads here mentioning it. I then hit a bit of a conundrum and decided to post to see if I was reading it correctly.

The new documents were indicating a significant amount of additional training would be necessary but, then again, it also continued to refrence flexible shelving as a brand new concept with the transition.

More interesting than that, however, was the documents continuous refrences to team members and so on. As far as I could see it, no where in the documents did it mention marketsource at all.

And that landed me here with this post. I'm quite confused now, honestly. I wonder if they scrapped the marketsource deal, realizing it was a mistake, or if they will proceed by simply increasing the commission opportunities for marketsource.

Bringing this post back from the dead. I'm wondering if anything has changed, or if there have been any new developments with the concept. I recently transferred to Electronics in my store a few months ago, and we still have the old design. I'm wondering if it's a dead end position now, and if I should be looking into new jobs.

Pretty similar to how things were before; my team is now able to focus on more tasks elsewhere in the department, without having to worry about coverage as much now that we have 1-3 MarketSource TMs in from 10-10.

MS still calls our TMs over when needed, and Electronics TMs still own the department by and large. MS does take care of a huge amount of guests, but they don't really "own" the area per se, and Entertainment is still entirely the responsibility of Target and not MS.

@sfbguy By dead end do you mean no room for promotion? It's gonna be no more dead end than any other position as a TM. Maybe a GSA or PA would be more opportunistic but they're all TMs.

The actual process of the remodel itself is a nightmare. Especially if you don't get your pallet of displays. It looks nice afterwards. Like @DevinDeLaSpot said, the workload didn't change all too much.

Bringing it back. I have a question. Does marketsource start making commission on everything in electronics now or not? Someone please set this straight.

There are a few marketsource TMs on here somewhere. I bet @Hardlinesmaster will know who to tag.

Yep, some leads make more, but not much.
Interesting, I make more than the mobile lead in my store (Of course I've also been a fixture in electronics for 7+ years.) I think they recently changed their commission structure. I think they only get commission if they attach something to a purchase now.

They get commission on cameras, tablets, fitbits, beats headphones, and accessories for the cameras, and tablets in addition to phone accessories. There might be more but I can't remember. Once they started including more items their commission for said items decreased.

I am a Wireless Team Lead for Target Mobile so maybe I can help shed some light on this. Our commission system is really weird. Our commission works on a Points Per Hour basis.
We can earn points for selling mobile accessories that first 3 of their dpci matches one of these 080, 056(only micro sds), and 057
Post Paid Phones( the phones that we activate on Sprint, ATT, And VZW)
Prepaid phones( the ones any TM can get off the Sales Floor)
Airtime cars(only if sold with a pre paid. Pretty dumb imo)
Apple watch( Both as an unattached and attached to a phone sale)
AppleCare/eSecuritel
We get points for selling certain EE items only if they are attached to a phone sale. The value also has to be over $80. These include department “080” products that are not wireless phone accessories, Wearables(excludes apple watch), Bose, Sonos, and Beats branded products, Earbuds and headphones valued at $80.00 or higher, Department “207” Video Game products, TVs, soundbars and speakers, and AV cables.
Im not too happy with the system myself but hey its there.

I know my store just got a great renovation to its electronics area but my duties have stayed the same and so has the TM's. The only thing that I have seen that is really
different is that every now and then MS will give us trainings on electronic items to run TM's through. Not sure if every MSTM does this but I normally take over guest interaction in electronics when the electronics TM has to zone or push out new items just to give them a hand so they don't have to keep getting pulled away from their task.

Nothing changes for the most part with the Target Team, the MarketSource team just has a more active role in selling technology that we sell. Oh and expanded hours for Market Source...

Ugh, I don't want to be reduced to zone/stock flunkie. I have a hard enough time putting out fires set by our mobile TMs (thanks to their lack of knowledge.) Luckily my store isn't getting the E&E innovation yet.

Welcome!
Updated Electronics Departments?
I don't know all the info. But several stores on the east coast will get upgrades, in the next 6 months. Especially, in the DC/md/va areas.

My store is being remodeled to this, this Spring, I will have a full 4 months of experience as the "Signing Specialist" for this and will take any tips that will make this as smooth a transition as possible.

Audit every pog set. Sort all pallets and prep signing for the next night's work the day before. Place SAP orders daily. Keep a spreadsheet of what you've ordered and the order date. Keep a binder of your sap orders organized by date. Keep a binder of all planograms that are completely done in order by aisle. Keep another binder of paper planograms that have issues (missing signing, displays, etc.) in order by aisle. Once you resolve issues move the paper planograms to the completed binder. Once you empty out the "planograms with issues" binder then you know you are done.

Also, order your team some new 3' and 4' label strip holders. Make sure your team is actually following the planogram for backer paper, signing, and displays. Stay on top of the signing updates and known issues. When I went through my store's innovation remodel last summer the backer paper was wrong on the paper planograms and they sent a list of what backer paper should be on which aisles.
