Does anyone have any insight into tl to etl salary range, if a tl gets promoted to etl with out a degree?

Depends on your market also. Probably 50 or below.

TL to ETL w/o Degree is probably around 40,000/year to 43,000/year. Depending on the position. I believe that Logistics is always a bit higher.

So the majority says it is around 40k starting but what are the raises like? cause with a 5% increase every year it comes to like 65k a year after 10 years.

I know a ETL-AP who has been with the company for roughly 9 years and maxed out around 74,000 a year. He wanted to become a police officer but when he realized that the sky was pretty much the limit at Target, he just stayed there. Each ETL (once again besides Logistics) generally can make up to 73,000 to 75,000 depending on Market and other situations. Generally if you are making that much you have either:

A) Been waiting a really long time to become a business partner or STL

B) Are on the STL bench

C) Are comfortable in the position you are in and don't want to go further up

D) Have been offered the above positions but didn't want to re-locate

That depends on how you look at it. I was with Target for a little over a year and I was making $67,000. Not bad money at all. However I now make $74,000+(with company now for 9 months) and I work 38-40hrs a week M-F All holidays and weekends off, work from home 2 days a week. Our store had us working 60 hrs a weeks so really you can't compare an ETL salary to another 40hr a week job.

But if you don't have a degree or certified skill then ETL is awesome. Good pay for not having college debt to repay. Our ETLs with no degrees started 50k or higher. My replenishment said he made more as a Sr.TL because of the added hours being an ETL. But the pay increases as an ETL get way higher than a Sr.TL over time.

From what I've experienced, degree or not, ETLs have the same caps on salary. So any ETL can get to the maximum pay rate regardless of degree status. I believe the only limitation is promotion to STL. That may require a degree but that may be to the discretion of the DTL and above.

I've been trying to get promoted for months and I feel like I'm getting the run around! I've been in management for over 10 years n my current position in target is a cashier. I don't know how else to get around with out being rude, and ruining my chances of getting a higher position. Feeling frustrated :-/

I would say Shine at being the best cashier and be a peer trainer to other cashiers, be friendly, I know is hard and very frustrating, I was passed over 4 times before I was promoted to tl and then some more times before becoming a sr.tl and then to etl. Also start looking at other areas in the store and always say yes if they ask you to work in other workcenters. Do not be negative and be proactive with your own development, let your leaders know that you want to do more with target and demostrate it.

It seriously depends on your market. I would say 40-52k is average starting depending on the cost of living. If you work 4AM or O/N you also make 4k more per year (1k bonus every quarter) for your shift diff. If you pass PG11's you will get a decent raise, and PG13's is where you see the upper 60k ETLs.

Yes I have been cross train not on service desk though , I've done softlines hardlines n some instocks

@Sabrina I have found (in my store, anyway) a Sr. TL who mentors/trains TM's to become TL's. Ask around the other TL's and see if there is such a person.. .or perhaps simply ask him/her how they got promoted. Make sure your ETL knows you want to be promoted, too. VERY helpful to be friendly enough with your STL to let him/her know (however mine's a bit of a cold fish). Your current GSTL or GSA may feel that you are wanting to replace them, I wouldn't suggest talking with them about it. You will probably have to repeat yourself about wanting to be promoted, too.

That is probably about right. I only know of 9, 11, and 13 because we have no Senior ETL positions in my district.

@Sabrina Learn as much about different process areas of your store as you can. I've seen a lot of promising cashiers and GSAs who want to become a TL but are only interested in working in the front end. When you become a TL/Sr.TL/ETL you are first and foremost a leader, and an owner of your specific process area second. They want people who can lead in all different areas of the store, not just 1 or 2.

One of the best ways I've found to express an interest in development is to approach your ETL or even your STL if you feel comfortable and tell them "I am interested in developing myself so that I can gain new skills and prepare for new opportunities. What are some things that you can suggest?" It doesn't have to be all about promoting right off the bat - it can be cross-training or learning new work centres, covering GSA breaks, helping with different store projects, learning to set end caps at the check lanes, becoming a trainer, etc. The fact that you are looking for opportunities for self-improvement and to gain experience in different areas of the store will definitely put you on their radar.

Also, take initiative within your work centre and go above and beyond without being asked - but make sure you let your leadership know your are interested in being developed for a leadership role so that they can help you get there. You don't want to let them take you or your work ethic for granted.
