I would think at that level it's more about the person than what ETL position they had/have.

For instance my current STL was a foodie. No HR experience, no Logistics experience, just food ETL in a Super Target. And now they are an STL of a low volume store that doesn't even have Pfresh. Clearly they were promoted to STL based on the person they are/type of leader they are, and not based on what ETL position they had.

If you want to be a more successful STL? Logistics and HR. The others really aren't difficult to handle.

If you can run a consistently strong logistics process, you can easily manage a store.

Logistics and HR! Also, a lot of the STL's I've met have either had experience in some kind of remodel position or SrETL-Food.

But like APredux said, the positions you hold may only play a small part of it.

A lot of districts and groups have what they label "high potential" pretty much accessing you before you even start or get a chance to work pure bs a lot of the time
