This really shouldn't be surprising to anyone in 2016, the article isn't very insightful, it's just cashing in on the trend.

I'm more concerned for my battery life. I had all location services (including the ones that locate your phone if lost) disabled. Partially out of overprotection for my privacy, but mostly for improved battery performance. It makes a huge difference. This is the first app that's ever got me to allow the use of location services, but I still turn them off when not in use. Facebook is a bigger risk to your privacy than this, in my opinion.

The thing about this is you don't really -need- your phone out

Stuff it in a MyDevice holder like I do or in your pocket (not recommended if your pockets are small/tight it will overheat) and it vibrates when a Pokemon is around and catching takes like..10 seconds. I waste more time chatting up Target Mobile than catching Pokemon lol
