I've been a cart attendant since 2013. That's literally all I do since I cannot cashier (eyes too poor for cashiering.)

I am bouncing from 25-27 sometimes hitting 30 hours a week.

I am 20, and staying at home with my parents isn't going to well and moving out would mean I need that extra 8 hour shift a week even, that 50-$60 a week counts.

How would you suggest be the best way to approach an LOD or whatever about getting that few more hours a week for my situation to move out my place to get a place of my own?

Is there even any possibilities to get full time (32 hours min) as a cart attendant?

Who would be best to talk to? HR? LOD?

I suggest flow. They always seem to need people. Plus depending on your stores unload time you may be able to do both, 4 hours flow, 4 hours cart attendant.

We have one cart attendant who is pretty much full time. He's been with the company for quite awhile though. I think we were supposed to hire another but management has looked the other way to let him keep his hours.

Flow will probably throw you in the truck and then have you on cardboard duty. Flow and Backroom trained is a good combo.

Sure enough, express your interest in branching out and being global.

CAs are usually young bucks and old cranky dudes from my experience. They are also all cashiered trained for back up and extra hours.

Backroom is where the cool kids hang out. 😉

I don't see many of them with a smile on their face.

Your store likely doesn't have the hours to give for that. Either you are getting all the hours they have allocated or someone else's hours would need to be cut. I agree that cross training to flow would likely be your best bet for more hours.

If your eyes are too poor for cashiering I would think reading a label would be even more challenging. So as an ETL-Log I could have you unload the truck and do cardboard, however that really limits your capabilities as a Flow TM. Although you would only be requesting 1 -2 days a week, and assuming your store isn't ON, then getting an extra shift or two shouldn't be a problem. I would help you out in getting the hours you need.

Ask your ETL and the ETL-Log about flow hours. Hopefully your leadership team looks after their TMs.
