i primarily work hardlines, and also pick up cashier shifts.
often when i'm in a hurry or the backroom people are busy, i'll pull stuff for guests.
the backroom team lead mentioned to me that theyre losing a guy as he will be transferring,
and asked if i'd be interested in getting officially trained and doing both backroom & hardlines.
would this get me a raise (however small it is), or would it be seen as cross-training with no pay bump?

Cross training & maybe no bump. Unless you are scheduled under that work center. it can help you get more hours, because you will know other areas.

if you work at least 51% of your hours in backroom you should get a $.50 bump but will probably have to pester hr to get it

if backroom becomes your permeant work center than yes you will get a $.50 raise, thats what happened to a market team member who switched to backroom. also, i think backroom is the best out of anything else at target, so the change is well worth it, go for it.
