So is your HR-ETL technically your boss? Or are they just a resource?
Just exactly what is their job?

Any etl is definitely your boss. Srtl usually as well. Wishy washy from there down depending on your role.

Like when the sltl tried to give me tasks and demand they get done, nope. Not if the pptl and I have a plan already.

If you're a TM, any leader in the building are your indirect boss at any moment or can be your direct boss for a specific moment. For me for instance, I'm the Starbucks TL but when the Food Ave TL went on vacation, his team reported to me since we share an area.

Since any Team Leader or ETL can write you up, as a Team Member, they are all your bosses. I do believe as Dan said, the ETL-HR is considered "second in command" since they are in charge of all hirings and terminations. From there, every ETL and TL is essentially equal.

At least at my store, the ETL-HR is usually in the office unless she's the LOD. She'll come out on the floor to support when we're busy, but then it's usually to cover GSTL or something.
