"Is Target busy on Christmas eve?"
Does the Pope crap in the woods? Very busy.
You only get the extra dollar for the hours AFTER 5:00 pm.

Drunk men who waited till the last minute to buy their wife/girlfriend a gift. They can and will be talked into anything It's hilarious.

They will also DESTROY your store. Most of softlines on the floor, or on racks/tables it does not belong on.

The one year I did it we hired off duty cops to come in 15 minutes before closing and force shoppers up to the registers. This allowed us to close on time. We kept everybody for about two and half hours after closing to clean up, but we decided to call it and let everybody go regardless of the store still looking like a tornado had hit it.

Did anyone else get told that they'd leave at exactly 9 pm? I leave at 2:30 pm that day, but at one of our recent huddles our etl was telling us that guests would be forced out at 9 pm and team members would walk out right behind them without staying to fix a thing in the store.

I lucked out and don't work but our store hasn't been too busy the last two Christmas Eves....now the night before Easter....that's ridiculous!! Busier and with less people.

Our store got a rush from the neighbouring walmart. I was a CA at the time I didnt get to leave untill 50 mins after the store closed.

Our closers are schedule until 9:05 that night.

With Spot staying open until 9pm it could bea good thing...or a very bad idea.. Hopefully most people will be gone by 8:30 or so. Since this is Spots first 9pm closing it will be interesting to see how busy it is after 6pm.

It will also be pretty scarey to see how the store's look on Dec. 26. With a 7am open time who knows what the store will look like. Wonder if there will be anyone coming in early on the 26th to zone up the leftovers from Dec. 24?

At my store, some TMs will come in at 4AM on the 26th to attempt to fix the store (including my re-shoppers because we can't do overnights on Christmas).

If your store location is anything like my old store's, it will be busy from morning till about 6pm. Then it will slowly die off as people are awaiting for family/friends at home or going to Christmas church services.

As it dies down, its going to be made rush for the sales floor to zone and reshop as much as possible for the busy Day After Event aka "the Second Coming of Hell". Black Friday being especially bad for salesfloor. Now The Day After is the worst day to be working Guest Service. People bringing back stuff and finding out they need a gift receipt, or we don't sell it, cannot return software/games....lets just say people are not the kindest on this day.

Last year, the cashiers and sales floor left as soon as the last guest at 9:05 screaming they weren't done yet was escorted out.....of course, us in the backroom got stuck until we were scheduled out at 9:30.....just those of us back there and the LOD were left.....

My first xmas eve at Target... we didn't get the last guest out of the store til ~ 11:30-midnight. And that was with a 6PM closing. We were chasing guests around the store trying to get them to leave and they were running and hiding from us! And we only had 1 cashier left. It was quite a night. It's been better since then, we've actually been able to leave at a reasonable time.

I just realized that I have the closing operator shift on Christmas Eve. I'm sure I'll have some good "To That One Guest" stories to tell afterward...

uh...cant your LOD call the cops and have them forceably removed if they arent leaving. Thats crazy...5 hours after closing they are still in?

Last year it was pretty busy. I had left 6 registers open before closing time, and I ended up closing one of them because it wasn't looking too bad. Then 9pm hit and BOOM... Huge convoy of shopping carts filled with toys coming up the racetrack and all I could say was "FML". We ended up being a little bit backed up since I closed one of the registers, but we got them all through.

I don't think we had any stragglers like others were describing, we made sure the lights went out, and overhead announcements at 15/10/5/close telling people to come up front.

After the last guest left, we let everyone go home (like we should, its friggin christmas eve...)

That was back in the good old days.... and well our STL then didn't really care, but on the plus side, he was a pretty hard worker and did a lot around the store (for an STL).
