I'm Lost! letter of recommendation?

I was a seasonal guest advocate and I was let go because the season was over, I was told before I would be done with my final shift that I would get a letter of recommendation by my TL from the HR

so how does it work?

Target doesn't give out letters of recommendation.

Yeah definitely not a thing. Target won’t even give out recommendation if another employer calls.

Your TL doesn’t know what they’re talking about. You know how many seasonal TMs stores hire? Imagine the amount of “letters” we would have to write.

We give letters, thanking seasonals and informing them that X would be their last shift and that they are welcome to apply for future seasonal positions.
We also give letters to those we intend to keep, welcoming them to the team.

I personally offer myself as reference and give my cell number , I have been contacted by several employers seeking references for past TMs.

We never get welcome to the team letters. Over here.. No news is good news.
