Why does the DC always do this in the summer? I have things I gotta do and now instead I have to come in and work 12 hours on a day I wasn't scheduled to work because this company can't properly manage workloads...

Inappropriate Behavior
Stop bitching and take the green when you can get it. They will eventually screw you over anyway. Get it when the getting is good.

Mandatory OT isn't a thing for grade 35 store TMs, though at times it may be for grade 45 store TLs. For ETLs, of course, there's no such thing as OT as they are classified as exempt employees.

I can see why it's extremely irritating to have last-minute schedule changes.

Your life includes commitments like medical and dental appointments for yourself and dependents/relatives, or previously-scheduled recreation and travel on your days off -- missing a birthday party, not being able to attend a Taylor Swift concert that you bought tickets for months in advance. It also involves serious commitments like missing work at your second job, missing a meeting for an organization you are involved in (take that, condo board president or election campaign manager for a local sewer district candidate).

Unfortunately, this has been mentioned many times over the years as a problem for those working in Distribution Centers. It's not a new thing. You may earn a lot of money but you may be losing money or peace of mind knowing that your personal off-the-clock downtime is there.
