My state recently raised the minimum wage. I am a pay grade N07. Since a pay grade is a certain amount over base, if base goes up, shouldn't my pay go up? Sorry my first contribution to the site is a question, but I am hesitant to ask my HR. Also I saw a similar question in another thread from a while back, but there didn't seem to be a definitive answer. Thanks.:)

Great. The minimum wage is scheduled to go up again next year, which will be over my current pay. So if I'm understanding correctly, my pay grade is now essentially worthless. Thanks Spot:(

If I understand correctly, as long as your wage is at least 50 cents (or what ever NO7 is above base) above minimum wage, then you stay where you are at. In my state, it is 50 cents above base. For example, say minimum wage used to be 9 dollars an hour. I was making 9.50, Minimum wage just rose up to 9.50, I would be raised to 10. If minimum used to be 8 and I was making 9.50 with the minimum raising to 8.50, I would not get a raise. Sorry for the confusing-ness.

If this is true then I'll be making four cents over that and miss the raise. I wonder if I can be benched by then.

Thanks for responding. I just really didnt want to be taken advantage of. I already got screwed once when I was electronics specialist. I am starting to hate this place I used to really enjoy working for Target but I think its time for me to move on.
