Stores are FINALLY getting the ability to do exchanges (not just even exchanges) very soon. It's a bit buggy but I think its safe to say they're going to fix that before they go chainwide.

That said, New POS is close to being solid if we can fix these few things Target.

  1. Wrong Payment
    1. There are a billion reasons why this needs to be reimplemented. Guests use the wrong payment all the freaking time
  2. Lookup Giftcard
    1. In bad areas like where my store is, sometimes people don't have a debit / credit card, and all they have is the giftcard they paid with. I've had to spend a decent amount of time mangling receipt viewer (which man it sucks now, the old one was so much better) to try to find it. Which brings me to my next want.
  3. Receipt Viewer.
    1. Although it doesn't have to be a huge custom New POS Application (though it would be preferred ), even a webapp that sits on the home screen that allows the user to use a POS to use receipt viewer would be a godsend.
  4. Workbench
    1. While we're on the topic of webapps, lets add workbench the POS to allow TMs to review bizzarro policy on things.
  5. Add images to returns.
    1. Name is explanatory. We get tons of clothing returns and sometimes you can't tell if its retagged so you use a myDevice, just adding an image to the little drop down of the information button in the return would be perfect.
  6. Day 0 bugs:
    1. There are still bugs that I experience in New POS since Day 1.
      1. When you input a receipt manually, then manually input an item number, it freaks out and nukes the transaction, which is really frustrating.
    2. The Card Reader / POS Speed:
      1. I'm a well (enough) coder, I understand race conditions and all that fun stuff. When TGT was rolling out the Linux POS replacing the W7 Embedded OS, there was a small bug that would ignore the current state of the card reader. As in pages would load INSTANTLY, and the second a guest would tap their card, the receipt would print before the "Bloop!" sound finished on the card reader.
        1. Since then, the POS only goes to the next screen (ie: Pay Screen, back to the main screen, etc) until the card reader is ready to do so. There must be a way to improve the speed on this.
        2. This bug is persistent when returning online orders and it's asking the guest why they're returning. The POS doesn't allow the user to scan the next item until the guest selects the reason on the card reader and there is a 5 second pause till the POS allows the user to scan again. Turning large online only returns into a drain of payroll.

Thought this is a laundry list of complaints, there is alot of good things New POS does, but its a little frustrating knowing how GOOD New POS could be. It just feels like it's been halted at a minimum viable product when there is so much it could do to improve the workflow of TMs.
