Ok soooo, i was recently moved from backroom early morning to day side to do space management, which in my store is covering receiving while the receiver is on break, clear pallet locations, pull sweep batch and load sweep trucks. A week after i took this spot my receiver was put onto medical leave for a undetermined amount of time, months in the shortest time period.

Her replacement for the past few weeks, is well, not interested in the position to say the least, so i asked to be made receiver and my STL and ETL were happy to grant my request starting the second. This leaves me in a tight spot on a few small topics that NONE of my exec's can help me with, so i turn to my fellow TM's here....

so here are a list of my questions, i do apologize in advance and thank you for any help.

1. Why in hell do my BoL's from sweep pallets say "1 to store files, etc. etc." but the driver leaves two after he signs them
2. When using RECV to take in UPS/Fedex delivery's, when asked for the "Date on invoice", ive been using the date delivered(is what ive been told to do by my interim receiver , is that ok?
3. My store has two containers the size of a full paper PIPO pallet up in a pallet locations, Im told its old receipts and BoL's(i got boxes aswell above my computer), Just how long are we suppose to hold onto these??
4. Ive managed to figure out ESIM sorting on my own this morning...
5. MIR's, Who pulls them in your stores?

1 copy each for:
- Your personal records (file it)
- Headquarters (send it out in the intracompany mail)
- The DC (Driver takes it with him)
- The driver's personal files

I typically use the 'shipped on' or 'packed on' date written on the invoice.

Those actually belong to the pharmacist to keep his paperwork in, so don't open them! You may need to get those down for them every once in a while and lend him some white truck seals but other than that, leave them alone.

4. Ive managed to figure out ESIM sorting on my own this morning...

Awesome! Personally, I always tried to donate as much as possible but it is something to get used to.

5. MIR's, Who pulls them in your stores?

Me.. Or if I was super behind, I'd ask the backroom and they would usually help. Don't forget to partner with the electronics specialist if you need to find somehting that might not be in the backroom; they usually know where it's hiding!

1. BOLs two for you, one for them and one to go in the folder sent to corporate.

2. There should be a date on the invoice that says when it was printed. If there is nothing on that or on the shipping label on the box, then using the date it was delivered is fine.

3. Those huge gray containers are pharmacy's, don't worry about them. On occasion they may ask for them to be pulled down, but they aren't your problem.

4. Esim sorting is fun

5. MIR's depends on the store. For the most part it is your responsibility to pull them. Technically it is up to whoever the tl over that area, who needs to pull the sales floor batches and the backroom to pull backroom batches, after you've printed out the paper work for each. Again though, depends on store.

Thanks for the tips guys, I talked with my Log and im apparently going to be sent out to another store for like two days for training after blackfriday before i get to settle into my new 4am-12 mon-fri shift....

I'm a backroom TM who's currently backing up receiving with a chance to take over sometime soon, so advice from me:

Take notes! Receiving has way to many details to remember everything until you've been doing it for a while. At least that's my impression, I've been regularly covering it for 4 months or so. I've been sent out to train a couple times and the second time I brought a notebook with me and wrote down *everything* I could. I might be sent out a third time before I take over for good, and I've compiled a list of questions to ask my trainer. Stuff I found useful to note the first few times was: the SCAC/PRO info for shipping, anything regarding sweeps, addresses for the outgoing red envelopes, printing labels for ESIM bins, and oh yah - there is a sheet to print which will detail every type of record you collect and exactly how long you need to save it for.

Questions I can't wait to ask are...how do we handle damaged beer? Where do we print the cover-form for the day's consumable receipts? Scan-sheets (I was told) are against Target policy, are the labels on top of wine boxes OK or do we need to scan bottles? What do you do when a beer vendor shows up with a full 6'-high pallet and insists he can't let you scan the individual boxes because "everyone else uses the scan sheet, scanning boxes is such a pain." What about QA/Recall holds for dairy/produce, do we keep those refrigerated in the appropriate cooler until they come back as destroy/return or what? My trainer printed new scan-labels to affix to each ESIM bin (stuck on the printed page that tells you the ESIM category in that bin) - the current Rev. Logistics person just has a permanent label slapped on a corner of each bin that they continually re-use. Is that fine or no?

I dunno, lots of questions...if any of the Rev. Logistics specialists here reads this, I'd love some answers. Otherwise I'll hopefully get moved there full-time as well and get a bit more training prior to it.

Hit up your current receiver and ask your questions. And I suggest making a cheat sheet for your self as far as the scacs go.

Pro Number and Scac in my store is simple, my Scac is always Ruan, and the pro is my stores number followed by the date, and as for outbound store mail, im drawing a dam blank, what gets sent out? just my BOL's??? red envelopes? i haven't seen one sense i been there... well time to go do autofills and set the store for tomorrow nights opening....
