Archived Shift change?

So, I'm scheduled tomorrow and can work the majority of the shift. Due to some family circumstances, it would be beneficial if I could leave 2 hours earlier. Is this something I can do? Ask to leave early or should I just call-out? It's a morning/mid-day shift so other cashier coverage isn't an issue.

Ask to leave early. See if someone who is already there can cover the 2 hours.

Ask to leave early. But tell them at the beginning of your shift so they can either ask people to stay late or see if someone can come in early.

But trust me, Target doesn't schedule extra cashiers for fun. And if any of my cashiers had to leave early, even with it being a mid shift and lots of other cashiers, it still put a strain on us (and subsequently the people who would have to come back up).
