My store doesn't let us use sick time for sudden call offs, I really don't understand how I am supposed to use it. I have worked here for two years and still fail to understand why I cannot call off if I have sick time available. Is your store the same way?

That doesn't make any sense. That's literally what sick time is for. I know some states have different policies, but I've never heard of this before.

That doesn't sound right at all. It's not like a person PLANS to wake up with a stomach bug (unless they're needing a mental health day), but a good TM isn't going to blow off a shift often enough to not be able to use sick time appropriately.
A couple years ago I was out unexpectedly for more than a week and I was able to use sick time, no doctor's note required (although I did have an appointment and could have got a note).

Are you asking about using sick time for sudden call offs when you are not sick? You can't say," I'm not sick but I don't want to come to work today and I want to be paid out of my sick time because I have X hours of sick available."

Brookies love chartreuse Power Bait. Grab some Stren 6# string up the old Garcia and slap it on the Fenwick 6 footer. Go for it.

I've actually noticed this too weirdly enough. MyTime says I have 49 HOURS of sick time but I seemingly cannot use it on the rare chance I call off. And to completely out myself, I live in a county where sick time is mandatory and should be allowed for any occasion where an employee is sick. Additionally, it seems like MyTime really forces you to use vacation time when you schedule a day off which is odd

Having a schedule off day is exactly for pto(vacation) which is not odd at all.
Sick time should be use when you call out and you fill your missed day with sick time.

To your first point, I understand what you mean. But on some occasions where I only took like one day off, I liked having the option to not "waste" my vacation time on a single day and it's weird that was taken away without warning. To your second point, that's exactly what I have tried to do but MyTime doesn't even give me an option to use my sick time

About vacation time, I thought we did NOT have to use it for a scheduled day off. Last time I put in for it and wanted to be paid for the time, I had to do two requests: one to not be scheduled and one to use vacation time.
Has that changed?
Also, I'm with @redeye58 - I have a ton of sick time hours in the bank but I'm almost never sick. So tempting to just call off but then someone else would push my truck and do my back stock and that would not be a good thing.
