Archived Sometimes documents saved in My Site open as "read only" ... It seems random.

I always open them the same way, but it's a toss-up whether they'll be editable or read only.

When a document opens as read only, I have to save it with a different file name in order to work on it ... Which get's annoying.

Any suggestions? Does this have something to do with Explorer settings or cache/history?

Also, I heard Microsoft is moving away from the Exchange Server model towards Sharepoint. Does that make any sense? I thought they were related somehow.

I've never had anything open as read only, not that I can remember anyway. This might give you the info you are looking for.
