Target article on MSNBC: ‘Lost their identity’: Why Target is struggling to win over shoppers and investors

I mean who could have possibly ever guessed this, right? "Brian Cornell is doing an amazing job leading us through the pandemic and he's an absolute trailblazing industry leader with his highly innovative shift towards an omnichannel experience!" That's the bullshit I heard and read for years even from Target team members themselves. Up until now, where the reality of infinitely cutting payroll/shitting all over our own brand in the name of short term profitability being the only real long term business strategy started to finally rear its ugly head...

Where are those people that said this dumb shit now? I'll wait

And how dishonest can Target executives be by the way? Cause I know they're not that stupid. You typically don't get into those rooms on accident, though it does happen. The article says they're blaming inflation. lol. No, if anything inflation makes the raw numbers on paper look better even if they're not. So for your total sales # to fall while inflationary pressure is accelerated means that you are really fucking up in a big way.

I saw that earlier. I felt it was very accurate. They seem to be stuck in no-mans land right now. Even without going into the Pride and DEI situation, they've still struggled to do the things that used to get people to go into Target. I think they've started to take action on this with things like the Never Out program but we will see if it means anything in the long run. You simply can't expect people to spend more on groceries while consistently being out of stock on the key items because you've decided to give F&B almost no payroll. Food has small margins but you need to nail it to get people to buy other things.
