So I was doing a google search... and I looked up my position, to find it on glassdoor. Anyway, I find out that MY EXACT TITLE, POSITION, AND STORE are listed as a job opening on target.com/carers.

Now, I try not to read too much into things... But thats hard to ignore. Now I should also say that every other hourly leadership position was listed as being open at my store, which it isn't... as far as I know.

Should I be worried they're going to sack everybody at the store and replace us with new hires? Or is this just a carrot dangling trick done by spot to attract talent?

I realize this might sound paranoid... but it also happened once before at my store, right before I was hired in.

They often post open positions in the district to multiple stores that don’t actually have the opening to broaden the applicant pool. Someone might apply to your store not having thought about or known about the one 5-10 miles away. Don’t overthink it. Also, they’ll post various positions, like GM TL looking for style or service and engagement, etc. In my district, if you are only able to lead in a specific department, you aren’t what we’re looking for, we need high scope global leaders who can adapt to any workcenter. Applied for front end TL and don’t want sales floor? Nope

THIS. are you getting a new store in your district? When we’re firing our TL we had to have someone in our district open one up for us.

My store was in a major city while other stores in our district were not so they would often post the openings in our store to trick people to apply

Our job specialists did a presentation and mentioned that the feds as well as big corporations will often post job openings as a way to see what kind of response they get in certain areas when they set them for different salaries, job duties, etc.
They use this as research to see how strong the job market is in certain areas and what kind of jobs will pick up the most hits.

I think it is bullshit since filling out one of the federal applications can take up to two hours (longer if you have a disability) and they are just fucking with you.

Yeh, in the tech industry it's called 'fishing': posting jobs to see what kind of response they get only to yank the posting without ever having interviewed anyone.
Then later they re-post the same job at a lower pay rate: again, to gauge the response.
They'll repeat the scenario until the response falls off significantly enough.
Only to see how cheap they can pay.
