Transfer advice?

I transferred to a Target that was supposed to be a pilot store with more hours and flexible scheduling. Instead, it’s been the opposite; fulfillment has 50+ people, and my hours have been all over the place (18 → 20-something → 35 → 0 → 18 → 21 → 6). Even before I had family issues (my mom’s health, dad’s accident), I wasn’t getting close to the 35 I wanted. It has been four months at my store.

I’ve picked up shifts when asked, but the hours aren’t there. The vibe in fulfillment isn't it, I wasn’t trained properly, style leads made comments, and it feels like I was just dumped in. I’ve asked about moving to GM (which I’ve done before), but nothing came of it.


I want to transfer to another location (I’m eyeing two nearby), but I’m worried my ETL will get mad or think I’m playing games since I originally said this store was closer because of college.

Quite frankly, my family is starting to look to places to move from our current place. We are also trying to leave.

How can I got about this transfer?

its good to drop in & look around the closer store to see how they operate... you may not get any answers when you call the other store. your currect hr can tell you about the jobs at the other store.

How long ago did you transfer they might not let you transfer again. Hours have been pretty much all over the place everywhere, likely won't be much better at another store unless its drastically higher volume or in serious need of help, which is another problem theb since the store is probably a mess.

It’s been since May. Tbh I’m more of if ima get little Hours might as well be the target nearby. Also my family is thinking of moving I mean I’m moving with them. So it’s something they want to make it happen soon.

Other than that I’m not sure what to do about my hours I only have my desired at 30. Yet I was told when I transferred since it’s a pilot store availability wasn’t an issue. I have Sunday to Saturday 6 am to 4:30 pm. I mean it doesn’t make sense I told him I’m ready to work more hours now it’s like only 6 per week.

Yeah it might be difficult to transfer again but if you have plans to move then maybe. You won't know until you ask depends on how your sd reacts. Transferring for a store that is 10 minutes closer is not going to be a major concern unless happen to move. Hours should begin to pick up now as we move later into q3 and into q4. I have seen instances were they work out a deal with a TM trying to transfer like if you work here for 2 more months or something like that they will approve the transfer.
