Archived What do I do when I want to take a break from my job at Target?

Hi everyone!
I recently just started college and since I really liked Target, I decided to stay with Target so I transferred to a store location near me. However, I ended up getting another job on campus and want to take a break from Target, especially since my shifts are on weekends and I have no time to hang out with my friends on the weekends. I don’t need the money so that is not a problem. Is there any way to take a leave of absence for a couple of months rather than just voluntarily terminate my employment?

Yes you can look into educational leave

Talk to your HR about an educational LOA. It shouldn’t be a problem. Just let them know you’ll be back for the holidays (if you plan on coming back for them). Otherwise it might be best to quit if you don’t plan on working in the foreseeable future. They’ll know they need to hire to replace you.

If you do what JAShands says, tell HR that classes are more demanding then you thought they would be and that is why you need an educational LOA. Don't mention the on campus job.
