While not really condescending, we had a guest pull the "I'm never shopping here" routine. But as she stormed out of the store she smashed a wine bottle by the front entrance. It was pretty epic. Like an angry mic drop, but with a bottle of wine.

I swear I could have written this post myself. Same situation and it just got worse. I don't have any advice because I quit 4 months ago. Just tough it out as long as you can stand, I guess. It might get better?

This isn't necessarily true. I go for back up, pretty rarely, and ALWAYS get WIC checks coming through. It's really not that complicated once you do it a few times and easier to just do it than wait till never for a GSA or GSTL to show up and help.
Yeah I have also done a few no-no's in the beginning. Don't sweat it.
If a guest is talking about anything price related on the floor, just call over the gsa or anyone with a walkie and ask for the sales floor TM of that department to do a visual check on the price.

I think the main problem is with leadership and delegation of procedure. No one at the top knows what they're doing, that trickles down and then everything is being done shoddy and haphazardly. Aka clusterfuck of responsibility. It's going to take an organized leader to drive this monster forward.
I always say "Good morning, afternoon, etc" to everyone and a little "how are you/how's it going?". I usually receive good responses and am friendly with most everyone at work. There a a few girls (like two, I've finally cracked all the others with kindness) who don't respond or act like...

Ugh, so sorry that happened to you. We've been bombarded with an influx or crazies, recently, thanks to a new metro station. Everyday I have to "buck up, or buck out", I don't know what my tolerance level is anymore....

I don't get it, maybe I'm daft. If that's how speed score works and it's a metric on cashiers, then shouldn't it stop after hitting "total"? So all this change, chip, etc business shouldn't be counted? That's not a metric anyone can control.
