Archived The Big & Dandy Backroom thread!

The real problem is that our store is AA volume now bordering on the next tier (AA+? AAA?), so we really do need the three shifts. Hell, we really need 4, but we can get by with 3. With three shifts, we're operating on the same amount of hours this time of year as we did when we were just A+...

Archived The Big & Dandy Backroom thread!

So we're implementing a change I already don't like. We're cutting the backroom closing shift. Now, all that we'll be having is an opener from 8-4:30 and a mid from 12:30-9, with a different person scheduled under Order Pickup from 8pm-12am to deal with SPUs, Get for Guests and will be tagging...

    Archived Backroom Organization?

The only aisles that we combine in my backroom are HIPA/LAMP, SPRT/BIKE/LUGG, BUCK/HCNDY, and PHAR/COSM. We don't have any sorted sections within any of our aisles aside from a section of BATH that is dedicated to towels. I feel like simplicity is key when maintaining BLRA, because if you try to...

    Archived No more noreceipt returns

Spot seems to by cyclical in their approach to cracking down on return fraud and abuse. When I first started working, it was exactly like a "yes" desk. Do whatever you can to make the guest happy. Then Fall 2015 we cracked down again, and my team and I had free license to deny any returns. But...

MEGATHREAD End to End team PILOT

I take back what I said about the market rollout being a success so far. Even with the absolutely absurd amount of hours that are being pumped into the rollout, Market is crashing and burning. All of the coolers and freezers are filled to capacity with backstock, leaving almost no vehicles for...

    Archived Morale

Morale is almost rock-bottom at our store. I can't ever recall morale being this bad in the 3 years since I started. Softlines TMs are dropping like flies, the new e2e grocery rollout is sucking hours out of every department, and already posted shifts are being cut. Our new BRTL was promoted...

    MEGATHREAD Flexible Fulfillment

As far as I'm aware, there really isn't anything you can do about it. You could potentially mySupport the issue and corporate might deign it worthy of their attention, but beyond that I don't think anything can be done at the store level.

Archived The "Vent about all the crazy shit that happened during your shift" thread

I've only been getting 5 hours a week for the past month, and next week the only shift that I have is a 4 hour shift from 8pm to 12am. What kind of shit is this? And this is with 4 days of wide open availability. If the next two week out schedule doesn't give me at least 16 hours, I am going to...

    Starbucks Team Leaders

Both our SBTL and FATL stepped down when they announced this. Neither wanted to deal with having to be in charge of both workcenters, and now leadership at my store is scrambling to find someone to fill the position.

Well the box is recyclable, at least. No matter what you buy, you can't really get around the base environmental impact of creating and distributing goods through manufacturing, distribution, and retail so it can't really hurt to buy a more environmentally friendly option. ;)

Archived How is cardboard handled at your store?

At my store, Overnight has a dedicated Flow TM that handles trash. But come dayside, whoever brings back trash is supposed to process it (Throw cardboard in the baler, trash in a trash bag/cage, etc). Does that usually happen? No, of course not. They leave their unsorted vehicles of cardboard...

Archived The Big & Dandy Backroom thread!

Same for me. I didn't have any problems getting mine copied at my local Home Depot. I actually need to go make some more copies, since I only have one copy now and there are a couple new team members who could use one for themselves.

Archived The Big & Dandy Backroom thread!

Because our overnight BRTL comes in only just before the overnight Backroom TMs start pulling the autofills, typically he is doing the audit while the autos are being pulled at my store. Unfortunately, because we have such a large backroom the audit is actually quite large and takes a good hour...

Archived The Big & Dandy Backroom thread!

If we have the space, we try to limit it to only two DPCIs per WACO. Obviously, that depends on the fillgroup. In DOMS for example, we try to have one DPCI per waco. In COSM, we might limit it to 4 or 5. Ideally we would have a maximum of three DPCIs per 3 compartment waco, but that's never the...

    Archived Target terms you hate

"Brand". Our newest crop of ETLs are all obsessed with making sure everything is BRAND. "Hey Firefox, before you leave tonight make sure that the backroom is looking brand!" FUCK OFF. Brand is a bullshit inane corporate buzzword that means literally nothing, especially in regards to the backroom...

Same thing at my store, I noticed it too. I heard about it from our Electronics TL and he immediately took the label off the shelf. I believe he replaced it with a different label at the same price.

Seriously. Our receiver has only been doing it for two, but he has the temperament of a saint so he somehow manages to keep it afloat. And it's definitely not easy at our store with the way that our overnight team just absolutely abuses the area surrounding Reverse Logistics.

Archived The "Vent about all the crazy shit that happened during your shift" thread

Last week, our receiver overslept his alarm and didn't show up for work. So they chose to have me cover without any training, and I had a hell of a time just trying to figure out how to receive a vendor let alone deal with everything else. Even without that experience I see how much shit you...

Logistics Hiding injuries for failing drug tests

I've injured my back twice so far working in Logistics, and both times I just filed an incident report and there wasn't too much to worry about. In both cases I was asked if I felt that I needed to go to a doctor, but thankfully in both cases it was minor enough that I could get by on "light...

Have any of you guys been getting mixed signals about who is responsible for SPU's as of late? For the past couple of weeks, it has been SFS's responsibility to have someone scheduled to take care of SPUs leaving Backroom to do backroom things. SFS was compensated and given the extra hours to...
