Archived What can you tell me about working at a distribution center

Can you ever be rehired at a DC? I had applied before for a packing position but at the time was told none would be open until that september (I had applied in july). I could have waited but my other job had already cut my hours back drastically and I needed something so I took an outbound job...

Archived Should I just quit and come back at a later time

I've been with target for a little over a month now. When I applied I said I wanted packing or warehouse, but my preference was packing. They put me on outbound. Thing is I am very out of shape, and always behind in my lanes. It's clear that I'm never going to be fast enough. Since I don't have...

    Archived Trailer loading training video

Yep I was running in yellow lights all week and getting backed up. Really amazing how they expect quality to stay when they understaff. First chance I get to transfer out I'm gone. I love the people I work with, even the GL's but damn I'm not a machine. Oh and we hit 100% our 3rd week.

    Archived How common is overtime?

Figure since you guys are vets I'll just ask here. Can you take a personal day on a holiday like thanksgiving as an example if you have personal days to take or do they not allow you to use your personal days on holidays? How about like christmas eve which falls on one of my days off but if I...

    Archived Trailer loading training video

I won't lie. These first 90 days I'm as worried as can be. They keep saying my walls are looking fine. My worry though is my speed. I'm not getting any yellow lights but I don't feel I'm getting boxes off the conveyor and built up fast enough.

    Archived Trailer loading training video

When we go through training for outbound we have to view a video on how to build walls in a trailer. Do you know if there's anywhere online I can find this video? I'm so nervous these first 90 days about getting fired and want to review things as much as possible.

    Archived Start tomorrow on outbound

Actually I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be (mind you I'm only a week in). Yes I work but well that's what a job is for. Maybe it's the people I work with that make the job bearable. Seems to be a lot of turn over. My plan is to go in everyday, work hard and not complain...

    Archived How common is overtime?

*fist pump* I'm actually getting excited for the new job as strange as it sounds. Actually I think of how lucky I am to have a job in this economy when many do not.

Okay, just one last question. What is the rule on facial hair? Can a person have a beard or not?

    Archived How common is overtime?

Don't plan on overtime or don't plan on being right off at 2? If the latter how late should I anticipate having to stay over. Like an hour over? Two hours? Thanks.

    Archived How common is overtime?

I'm starting next week tues-friday 4-2AM. Does this mean I'll be off at 2 each day or could it be possible I'd have to do overtime ever? If so like an hour or two over. Reason I'm asking is because I have to take a cab to work (no drivers license) and want to be able to set up a time in advance...

Archived What can you tell me about working at a distribution center

What's the work like, hours, benefits, pay, vacation, all that stuff? Also do you need to know how to drive forklift or do they train you to do that?
